Student Financial Services Verification Specialists assist Strayer University students in all aspects of the Verification process and help ensure that information is presented in accordance with Federal financial aid guidelines and instuitional policy and procedure.

Perform complex financial aid processes, including Verification

Review and assess all Verification Documents

Ensure all files are accurate and complete

Advise students and internal staff on verification process

Process all corrections using CPS and Diamond

Attend required training sessions

Complete student outreach to students on outstanding verification items

Follow all institutional policy and procedures

Meet assigned productivity goals

Various other duties as assigned by the Verification Manager, Associate Vice President in charge of Financial Aid

Education:

Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Certificates, licenses and registrations:

None

Work Experience:

One (1) year of Financial Aid experience with an emphasis on Verification required.

Skills:

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

Must be able to work some evening and weekend shifts

Ability to perform and complete verification on complicated student files.

Ability to answer complicated student financial aid questions accurately and in detail.

Ability to deliver outstanding customer service by telephone, e-mail, and other media.

Ability to follow processes, work effectively on a team, and maintain a positive attitude.

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Effectively cope with stressful situations

Other:

Must be able to travel occasionally should a business need arise. For most roles travel would not be common. Travel may involve plane, car or metro. In accordance with ADA policies, reasonable accommodations regarding travel limitations can be provided. Travel will be more common for roles such as Account Executives (25 - 50%), senior leaders (10 – 20%) or Capella Core Faculty (5 – 10%).

Ability to work onsite in Corporate or Campus location (in a typical office environment) may be required based on role. If so, this would include being mobile within the office, including movement from floor-to-floor using elevators or stairs.

If offsite or hybrid role, must have access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at a remote location.

Faculty and Federal Work Study roles require access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including computer, privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at a remote location.

Must be able to meet critical thinking and problem solving aspects aligned to job duties, as well as effectively communicating with co-workers.
