Senior Academic Program Services Specialist

Department:

FAES Agricultural, Environmental and Development Economics

Serves as the Program Manager for all AEDE graduate program administration and student services in the Department of Agricultural, Environmental, and Development Economics (AEDE):

manages, coordinates, and administers graduate programs in AEDE;

manages the AEDE graduate admissions and recruitment process, including strategizing for growth of AEDE graduate enrollments and quality of applicant pool;

works with other AEDE staff to coordinate the schedule of course offerings;

manages academic advising, alumni engagement, and career development for AEDE graduate programs;

manages PhD fellowship process for AEDE PhD students;

develops and modifies policies and procedures as they relate to specific program goals;

collaborates with AEDE Communications Manager to improve communications and materials for all graduate programs;

implements departmental events and student engagement opportunities;

carries out prospective graduate student visits and orientation;

provides input on curricular updates and program development;

develops and implements a comprehensive assessment plan for AEDE graduate programs

serves as back-up for other AEDE academic staff;

other duties as assigned.

Serves as the primary staff contact for AEDE's graduate programs (MAE and PhD) and enrolled students:

advises and regularly meets with AEDE Graduate Student Association leadership;

helps to coordinate TA and instructor assignments;

identifies and resolves issues arising in graduate student funding, performance and conduct;

provides recommendations and support to the Graduate Program Leader and AEDE Department Chair;

provides program administrative support for AEDE's Graduate Program Leader.

Provides AEDE representation for graduate affairs:

provides representation and input on behalf of AEDE’s Chair/Leadership at CFAES and Graduate School meetings;

assists with CFAES and graduate school programming and committees as required;

attends relevant meetings and trainings;

serves as liaison between AEDE, CFAES Graduate Education, OSU Graduate School, and graduate students.

Minimum Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience. Master's Degree preferred.

Required Qualifications: 4 years of relevant experience. 4-8 years or experience desired. Experience in supervising students or staff; experience in program management and student engagement; excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.

Additional Information: The offer for this position will be based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications. In-person presence required at least three days/week.
