The Opportunity

As we advance into our 4th year in this exciting Government-to-Government agreement, we have an opportunity opening in our health, safety and wellbeing team, providing HSW strategic direction and assurance in the construction and redevelopment of vital social infrastructure in Peru. This is an opportunity to work within a joint venture and alongside the Peruvian government on a large infrastructure programme delivering $7Bn of work.

We are looking for a health, safety and welfare lead – a professional who is capable of both providing a best practice assurance service on healthcare and school construction sites, as well as providing pastoral and office safety and wellbeing advice and support to our team of consultants in Lima, Peru.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

Positioning, promoting and protecting the Mace brand in relation to health, safety and wellbeing.

Safeguarding of the JV and Mace teams in Peru and LATAM.

Providing leadership and direction to our in-country HSW team.

Developing and promoting succession planning and identifying career development opportunities for the HS&W team.

Travelling regularly to individual projects to assure safe delivery and undertaking HSW inspections.

Driving continual improvement in corporate KPI’s.

Supervising the ongoing development of the client’s health and safety management system to support continuous improvement.

Supporting the implementation of the management system, and all associated procedures, processes, and tools.

Advising programme leadership by recommending strategic direction for all matters relating to health and safety on the program.

Supervising procurement activities.

Performing a visible role in health, safety and wellbeing management and guiding the client with regards to legal, contractual, and moral obligations, and international best practice.

Keeping fully informed of all existing and proposed changes in applicable regulations and legislation.

Transferring knowledge through training, coaching, co-working, and providing development opportunities to the ARCC.

Supporting the client in the revision of contractor health and safety documentation, management, and delivery on site.

Supporting the client in addressing non-compliance through the application of the contract where applicable.

About You

You have qualifications within the field of health and safety, and experience on major construction projects or programs. You are digitally savvy and can utilize data to steer and direct health and safety focus. You are a patient and effective communicator that identifies and adjusts their approach based on the needs and competency of all stakeholders. Conversational Spanish would be an advantage, and willingness to learn is expected. You are a collaborator that draws on their on knowledge and experience to help others grow and flourish.
