Banquet Server

With 20,000 square feet of state-of-the-art meeting and event facilities, en-suite guest rooms, and multiple dining rooms, Columbia Club provides a unique and distinguished experience. Job Responsibilities:
Perform banquet set-up tasks.
Provide attention to all guests.
Take beverage orders and serve food in specified stations.
Pour and refill wine, coffee, water, and other beverages served with and after the meal.
Empty ashtrays and clear dishes as needed.
Clean all assigned work areas in the kitchen and banquet areas.
Advise the supervisor of any member or guest complaints as soon as they occur.
Assist in closing functions by performing various tasks such as removing linen, busing glasses, dishes, silverware, etc., and re-setting the room for the next function.
Attend staff meetings including pre-service (line-up) sessions.
Assure that all state and local laws and club policies and procedures for serving alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
Thank members and guests and invite them to return.
Consistently follow all sanitation-related requirements, including those related to personal hygiene.
Complete other appropriate assignments made by the Banquet Captain or Director of Catering
Qualifications:
State law requires a minimum of 19 years of age for alcoholic beverage service
Minimum of 2 years of banquet or serving experience preferred
High School diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
Ability to effectively learn to use a Point of Sale System
Ability to print and speak simple phrases and sentences
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests and other employees of the organization
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Competencies:
Ability to follow instructions and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
