Overview:

The IT Department is seeking a motivated and professional Data Base/System Administrator who will be based out of a MO office. The position will be part of the Business Solutions software development team and play a key role in supporting, maintaining, and updating application and SQL database servers for the company software systems. This position will be a blend of remote from home and on-site at one of our locations.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the technical analysis, design, installation, configuration, administration, security, maintenance, monitoring, backups, and disaster recovery of Microsoft Windows application servers and Microsoft SQL database servers. This includes new installations and maintenance of existing environments through tickets and projects.

Responsible for the following third-party application servers: Estore, ConnectShip, Epicor Configurator, SQL Server Report Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services, Power BI and backup for JDE E1 ERP system.

Proactively monitor application servers and databases by configuring server monitoring tools such as SolarWinds.

Diagnose and resolve performance issues by determining the most effective way to increase performance including hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes.

Follow change control process, review, and apply development teams’ software and database updates to UAT and Production environments.

Own, track and resolve database related service requests and incidents.

Review and enhance server related reports and monitoring daily to ensure service-related issues are identified and resolved. Develop strategic solutions for recurring problems.

Role requires a service-oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the problems and service requests assigned thru the Service Desk ticketing system.

Create configuration and systems documentation.

Perform vendor application and database updates per vendor instructions.

Develop strategic solutions to recurring problems.

Effectively communicate with Agile teams, IT Department, Business, and Management.

Perform installations and upgrades, provide support, and troubleshoot system issues during office hours and after hours as required by the business.

Perform Upgrades/System Administration for web servers, application hosts, all Microsoft SQL servers (including Epicor), SQL Server Report Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and cloud environments.

Monitor scheduled Microsoft SQL jobs, troubleshoot, and resolve issues for any failed jobs.

Position will provide after hours support on critical issues.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or similar field OR equivalent work experience required.

Seven or more years of DBA/Windows System Administrator experience required.

Experience designing, installing, and configuring new SQL and Windows Server environments.

Experience configuring and using server monitoring tools.

Hands on experience with Windows servers, patch installation, IIS configurations, FTP, web site/application installation and administration.

Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MS SQL Server.

IT experience with a strong understanding of web applications, web site design, database structures, and practices. Including experience with HTML, scripting, XML, IIS, web services, etc.

Knowledge on storage technologies in relation to application and database performance/best practices.

Strong technical aptitude and ability to research and solve complex issues independently.

Experience designing and implementing a database backup process in a way that meets the business’s recover point and time objectives.

Experience with migrations and upgrades including consolidation planning.

Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts.

Experience tuning SQL queries to improve performance.

Experience deploying SQL server HA using Virtualization technologies.

Good communication and documentation skills.

Basic WAN/LAN knowledge

Network knowledge Domains/sub-domains.

Experience with Business Intelligence database/tools

Knowledge of the following Microsoft products is required:Microsoft SQL Server

SQL Server Integration Services, and Reporting Services.
