Position Summary:

The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who performs patient assessment, develops, implements and evaluates effectiveness of an interdisciplinary plan of care for patient populations with various diagnoses. Maintains professional standards of conduct and ethics as outlined in department expectations and professional organizations. Provides education to patients, families, caregivers and other health professionals. Assists in the supervision of other staff members, students and volunteers, as appropriate. Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to patients'/caregivers' rights, as identified within the institution.

Major Position Responsibilities:

Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.

Professional caregiver who performs patient assessment

Develops, implements and evaluates effectiveness of an interdisciplinary plan of care for patient populations with various diagnoses.

Maintains professional standards of conduct and ethics as outlined in department expectations and professional organizations. Provides education to patients, families, caregivers and other health professionals.

Assists in the supervision of other staff members, students and volunteers, as appropriate.

Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to patients'/caregivers' rights, as identified within the institution.

Evaluates effectiveness of care provided by all health care team members, including oneself, and contribution of systems, environment and instrumentation in progressing patients toward desired outcomes. (CVOR RN position only)

Responsible for inventory management, including, but not limited to, storage and distribution of all cardiac related items, notifying the CVOR RN Specialty Coordinator when supplies are low for reordering purposes. (CVOR RN position only)

Serves as a liaison to the cardiac surgeons, anesthesia providers and department leadership. (CVOR RN position only)

Qualifications:

Qualifications RN Experience:

One (1) year Inpatient operating room experience as a Registered Nurse, required

Must be able to circulate a variety of specialties (including, but not limited to: Neuro, Spine, HEENT, General, GYN, Vascular, Thoracic, Minimally Invasive, Robotic, Orthopedics).

Scrub experience strongly preferred.

Will consider advanced outpatient surgery experience, or completion of a specialty training program, formal residency or externship program.

Quoficiently for CVOR cases, preferred.

Qualifications RN Transitional Experience:

One (1) year of acute care experience, required.

ICU, ED, or PACU experience, preferred.

Licenses:

Current California RN License, required.

Certifications:

Current BLS required upon hire; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider.

Current ACLS required; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider. (CVOR RN position only)

Each new hire candidate who is offered employment must pass a physical evaluation, urine drug screen and pre-employment background checks before starting work.

*Salary/Hourly wage range for this position is posted. Actual pay will be determined based on verified experience as well as internal equity.
