Description:

The Consultant should possess the following qualifications:

Proven experience in technical writing within the heavy engineering sector, process plants, materials handling systems, earth moving equipment, mining equipment, or metallurgical plant sectors.

Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering concepts and terminology.

Advanced proficiency in MS Office and documentation software such as Adobe FrameMaker/ Illustrator, MadCap Flare, Formstack, Hotdocs, or equivalent software tools, and the ability to produce clear and engaging content that is technical in nature.

Proficient in creating visual aids using relevant software tools (e.g., Visio, Adobe Illustrator). Extracting model screenshots from Navis-Works or Autodesk Viewer.

Excellent command of the English language and the ability to present complex technical information clearly. Communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

The Technical Writer will be required to:

Periodically update manuals to reflect product changes, design enhancements, safety notices, and regulatory requirements.

Develop comprehensive Product Manuals that detail the specifications, installation, operation, and troubleshooting of our equipment.

Create Installation and Operation Manuals that guide users through the correct setup and use of the equipment, incorporating safety guidelines and regulatory compliance.

Ensure that all technical documentation is clear, comprehensive, and technically accurate, and meets the standards and branding requirements of required.

Integrate and create graphics, schematics, diagrams, and photos to enhance text based descriptions, understanding and usability of the manuals

Review and update existing documentation to reflect product updates or changes in regulations.

Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to validate the accuracy and completeness of the documentation.

The expected general outline of the documents should in essence cover:

Product Manuals: Create comprehensive product manuals that include, but are not limited to:

Detailed equipment descriptions and specifications, including design parameters.

Step-by-step assembly and disassembly instructions.

Operational procedures and best practices.

Safety guidelines and hazard warnings.

Maintenance schedules and instructions for upkeep.

Troubleshooting guides for common issues.

Installation Manuals:

Provide thorough installation manuals outlining, but not limited to:

Site preparation requirements and specifications.

Step-by-step installation procedures for all components.

Integration with existing systems or machinery (where applicable).

Commissioning and testing procedures.

Operation Manuals:

Develop user-friendly operation manuals outlining, but not limited to:

System startup and shutdown procedures.

Descriptions of available operating modes.

Instructions for controlling and monitoring system functions.

Safe use and best practices, emphasizing hazard mitigation.
