POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Under the direction and supervision of the Director, the Environmental Services Staff will attend to facility cleanliness and other services to assure a hospitable and friendly environment for Y members and program participants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Be knowledgeable and adhere to Safety Policies, Procedures and Emergency Response Plans. Always keeping Safety at the forefront of your mind.

General cleaning and care of the facility including all offices, studios, workout areas and locker rooms, restrooms, etc. (Includes dusting, scrubbing, waxing, polishing, etc.)

Replenish supplies daily.

Follow a daily, weekly, and monthly check-off lists to maintain facility appearance.

Record unusual events or occurrences and/or inform responsible person(s) as instructed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Prior housekeeping or custodial experience preferred.

Must have the ability to work with little or no supervision.

Must have basic mechanical aptitude and safety awareness.

Attention to detail and initiative to complete tasks.

Supplied references will demonstrate dependability and reliability.

Mature, responsible, easy-going individuals with good communication skills.

Must be able to interact appropriately with kids and adults in a positive manner, enthusiastic, flexible.

Must be able to align with and demonstrate the YMCA four core values on a consistent basis.

CPR Pro & First Aid Certification required within the first 30 days (training can be provided)

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, routinely climb stairs and ladders.

Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position for long periods of time, including but not limited to climbing stairs, climbing ladders, walking, standing, bending, reaching over head, twisting, squatting, and kneeling.

Must be able to use standard cleaning equipment including cleaning solutions and chemicals. Be familiar with OSHA guidelines regarding hazardous chemicals.

Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
