Troy Design and Manufacturing is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company. At TDM, we use 21st Century manufacturing processes such as 3D design and printing, laser cutting, and automation for prototype and low volume manufacturing of components of current and future Ford vehicles. At our Chicago modification center facility, we do state of the art vehicle modifications for multiple police interceptor platforms.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Under the general direction of the Health and Safety Manager, the Safety Engineer serves as the staff specialist/assistant in safety by developing and carrying out procedures with the line organization that effectively control accident and health exposures in the company.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists Health and Safety Manager in day to day operations of department

Maintains Safety Training records

Develop and distribute General Safety communications (Focus of the Month and Newsletter)

Implement training of line and staff management to understand OSHA regulations and standards

Assist in investigations of injuries and safety issues

Develop and write Job Safety Analysis.

Communicate hazard control information

Coordinate implementation of new developments in the health and safety field that may have application to the company's operations

Keeps apprised of developments in federal and state safety laws likely to affect the company

Maintain documentation of department as it relates to ISO14001

Assists maintaining Health & Safety Training such as forklift, crane, boom, etc.

Performs other duties as required or requested

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

0-5 years’ experience in occupational safety and health, environmental science, or related subject and/or in conjunction with an Associates/Bachelor’s degree

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Working knowledge of Microsoft Applications

Strong Data Analysis Capabilities

Preferred:

Certificates in Safety, Hazardous Materials Handling etc. a plus

OSHA 30 Certification
