Position Summary

Interact with emergency department and observation physicians, Emergency Behavioral Health Fellows, APPs, registered nurses, social workers, and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure ED and ED observation patients presenting with a behavioral health crisis receive optimal evaluation, stabilization, treatment, and care coordination.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Provide in-person and telehealth services to adult and pediatric patients presenting to the Emergency Department (ED) with behavioral or psychiatric complaints across multiple locations within an integrated health system.

Provide care in an innovative Emergency Psychiatric Assessment Treatment and Healing Unit (EmPATH).

Be a contributing member of a complex observation service.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will be an independent thinker, self-motivated, able to work well in a fast-paced environment and have excellent interpersonal skills.

The candidate will have the knowledge, experience, and compassion required to provide emergency behavioral health care in an emergency and complex observation setting.

Employment requires current licensure and registration with the State of Michigan, DEA licensure.

Additional life-saving certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS) may be necessary based on the scope of services provided.

Physician Assistants must be a graduate of an accredited physician assistant program (Psychiatry CAQ strongly preferred).

A Nurse Practitioner must hold a current RN license and be Board Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).Physical Demands and Work Environment
