Introduction:
Aga Khan University, chartered in 1983 as Pakistan's first private international university, is committed to the provision of education, research, and health care of international standard relevant to Pakistan and the region.
The Aga Khan University’s Institute for Global Health and Development (IGHD) was established in the year 2020 to serve as a University-wide entity for providing a unique platform for facilitating strategic engagements and partnerships between AKU, University of Central Asia and the wider Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). IGHD aims to address global health and environmental challenges by creating a multi-disciplinary support system and infrastructure, whereby researchers across campuses and regions can collaborate and contribute.
The IGHD works across four thematic areas, including Sustainable Development Goals (including Broad Social Determinants of Health); Gender Equity and Empowerment; Climate Change, Urban Development, and Health, and; Agriculture, Food Security, and Nutrition.
Responsibilities:
supervise and monitor all infrastructure related field activities at all field sites around Pakistan and prepare schedule of activities
coordinate with staff working at field sites in multiple cities of Pakistan for the completion of task within the stipulated timelines
perform building evaluation and analyse structural integrity
coordinate with Government and Community stakeholders for carrying out the project activities
prepare bill of qualities
work with other team members and purchase department to complete the procurement of any building materials required
conduct bill verification and prepare contracts
ensure the completeness, proper entry and archiving of the relevant documents
prepare and present weekly, fortnightly and monthly project reports and presentations for the progress of study being carried out at multiple locations.
capacity to use or be quickly trained in using a entry level thermal camera to capture basic site information with the correct set-up and share the images in parallel with photos / video
generally understand the context / aims of the project so that potential problems / challenged can be identified that might not have been anticipated
Requirements:
Bachelors in Civil Engineering (16 years education), or any relevant discipline
1-2 years of related work experience at community level
strong communication and interpersonal skills
team player
knowledge of building evaluation and structural integrity
data collection, analysis, and interpretation in terms of report writing
working knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Project
knowledge of EHS.
knowledge of building bylaws
willingness to work on field sites and travel locally
