At Barron, our Payroll Specialist will:
Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for all team members accurately and in a timely manner, including validation of wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, spiffs, taxes and deductions
Prepare and submit weekly certified payroll reports in accordance with state and federal regulations for public works projects
Stay up-to-date on changes in payroll laws, regulations, and reporting requirements to ensure compliance and mitigate risks
Collaborate with the finance department to reconcile payroll data and resolve any discrepancies
Collaborate with the finance department to conduct various annual audits
Support administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks, ensuring timely invoice payment, reconciliation and accuracy of related earnings and deductions
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and related matters in a prompt and professional manner
Assist in the preparation of payroll-related documentation, such as W-2 forms, 1099s, and other tax filings
Support People Ops initiatives and special projects as needed
Provide general support and compensation guidance to all department managers and Barron team members
Collaborate and build relationships across all departments
Maintain strict confidentiality of personnel, payroll and benefits information
Support co-workers while providing world-class customer service

An outstanding Payroll Specialist will have the following talents:
Strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and reporting requirements, including certified payroll
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, calculations, and analysis
Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
Familiarity with benefits administration and human resource processes and regulations is a plus
Experience & Qualifications:
Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field is preferred but not required
Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll administration required, preferably in construction or trades industry
Proficiency in payroll software and systems, Paylocity experience is a plus
Certification in payroll administration (e.g., CPP) is preferred but not required
High School Diploma or GED
Must be at least 18 years of age
Pre-Employment drug screening
Legally eligible to work in the United States
Compensation:
Full-Time, Exempt
$67,800 - $78,000 per year; DOE
