About the Role

The Merchant Cash Advance (MCA) Underwriter is a pivotal role within Finfare, responsible for assessing, analyzing, and making decisions on the approval of MCA applications. This position demands a high level of analytical skill, a deep understanding of the MCA product, and the ability to identify and mitigate risks effectively. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in underwriting MCAs or small business lending, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to supporting business growth through sound financial judgment.

Responsibilities

Act as a key participant in the underwriting process, which includes the analysis of credit reports, bank statements, and various other business documentation

Assist in the negotiation of transaction terms and credit structure

Perform detailed financial analysis on the small business, including trend and ratio analysis, and interpret the financial information to determine credit quality and cash flow adequacy

Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines and risk assessment models to minimize risk and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Stay updated on market trends and regulatory changes that could impact the MCA sector

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

Previous experience in a fintech or data-intensive industry required.

Small business or start-up experience is strongly preferred.

1-3 years of experience in Merchant Cash Advance Underwriting or small business financing.

Bachelor’s degree or higher required, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.

Fintech experience is strongly preferred.

Previous start-up experience is strongly preferred.

Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as a strong sense of accountability.

Ability and desire to work in a rapid-paced environment.

Knowledge of financial principles and processes, experience with financial statement analysis

Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a deep understanding of financial analysis and risk management

Ability to evaluate industry trends, understand market dynamics, and develop and defend recommendations.

Bonus Points

Knowledge of data security best practices and data governance.

A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt to emerging technologies and techniques.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $70k- 90k+ (depending on experience).
