Manager, Business Operations - Surgery

Department:

Medicine Surgery Critical Care Trauma and Burn

Functions as the manager, office operations for the division(s) within the Department of Surgery; directs and manages day-to-day operations of division including all fiscal, human resources, and administrative affairs, activities and functions in conjunction with the business manager; supervises and monitors day-to day activities of 20+ administrative staff and students; provides technical and administrative guidance and coordination to ensure support staff activities and workflow processes are handled in an efficient and timely manner; manages division operating room and endoscopy utilization and mange’s internal block allocations; manages physician clinic template utilization, manages in conjunction with patient scheduling center decision tree logic and algorithms; manages all recruitment and hiring of staff; hires and trains employees that provide faculty support services; administers and manages performance management activities; plans, assigns and monitors individual workloads and completion of work activities; ensures appropriate staffing levels; evaluates, identifies and makes recommendations for changed in staff numbers or structures; serves as a liaison between faculty and clerical staff; manages and oversees faculty appointments, credentialing and annual review, and promotion and tenure activities; conveys directives from division leadership; coordinates and organizes logistics for meetings; coordinates and makes travel and lodging arrangements; collects, prepares and processes requests for reimbursement of expenses; researches, collects and compiles information as requested to develop complex division reports; leads and provides guidance to division staff in the areas of scheduling, IHIS and clinical support staff training; serves as IHIS super user for the divisions, assists administrator with developing clinical-related policies and disseminates to clinical support staff; aid divisional leadership in strategic planning process and for decision making purposes.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree may be desirable. 5 years of relevant experience required. 8-12 years of relevant experience preferred.
