ABOUT US:

Palos Verdes Golf Club is a private club located in the middle of an 800-acre parkland preserve overlooking Santa Monica Bay with ocean views visible from several holes. Established in 1924, the golf course has long been referred to as "a hidden gem" and the clubhouse is a designated historical building by the Palos Verdes Historical Society.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Approach all interaction with Members, guests, and colleagues in a courteous, service-oriented manner

Remain attentive, friendly, helpful, courteous, and respectful to Members, guests, managers and fellow employees at all times

Promptly greet guests as they are seated and brings bread and butter to the table (ice water as requested or required)

Memorize all menu items and ingredients for each event, prior to each event

Memorize all beverages offered for each event, including all wines and their descriptions, prior to each event

Maintain awareness of all table and position numbers

Take orders when necessary

Promptly deliver food and beverages to guests from service area, kitchen, and bar as required or requested

Ensure guests' food and beverage items are all accounted for as they receive them, including special orders

Pour and refill wine, champagne, coffee, water and/or other beverages served before, during, and after the meal

Remove used tableware between courses and provide tableware for next course as needed

Crumb assigned tables after entrees are cleared and between courses as needed

Clear tables after guests; take tableware to dish room and place silverware, dishes, glassware, etc. in appropriate areas for washing

Respond appropriately and politely to guest requests and communicates guest requests to management when necessary

Remain on the floor at all times and in assigned station when not performing tasks in service area

Complete daily opening and closing duties and cleaning according to established side work

Perform pre-event and post-event duties as assigned, including physical setup of event

Set up and break down tabletops according to floor plan/BEO or as directed

Keep all work areas and server stations clean and properly stocked

Communicate with co-workers and management throughout event to ensure efficiency of service

Assist fellow employees as needed throughout the shift

Communicate all guests' feedback promptly to management

Ensure overall guest satisfaction

Attend pre-shift meetings, trainings, and all staff meetings as required/requested

Follow all established Club and departmental policies, procedures, standards, systems, controls and objectives

Perform other duties as assigned by a manager

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Fluency in English language; English/Spanish bilingual ability a plus

Excellent Member and guest-relation communication skills

Dynamic outgoing personality; articulate, friendly, punctual, and proactive

Comfortable working with a team in a fast-paced environment

High level of client services, professionalism, and attention to detail; professional appearance appropriate for a premier country club

Problem solving, reasoning, and "thinking out of the box"; ability to apply common sense understanding to better serve our internal and external guests' needs

Ability to demonstrate proper banquet food and wine service; knowledge of wines/wine regions

Ability to handle guest complaints and disputes and resolve them to satisfactory results

Ability to work Holidays and all shifts according to your availability provided at the time of hire

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

Minimum one year of banquet server and/or food service experience in an upscale banquet or restaurant environment; country club experience preferred

High school diploma or equivalent

Basic knowledge of food and beverage operations

At least 19 years of age to serve alcohol; 21 years of age to pour alcohol

Serv-Safe certified

RBS certified

CPR certified a plus
