Job Description

What is JetZero? Today’s aircraft contribute around 2.5% of global CO2 emissions, equivalent to the emissions of 200 million cars. This is only going to increase: Air travel is forecasted to double by 2050, while meaningful efficiency gains using current airplanes have hit a wall.

JetZero is developing a blended wing aircraft. It uses 50% less fuel and can accommodate zero-emission hydrogen propulsion. JetZero is the inevitable solution to sustainable air travel. The JetZero team We are experienced aerospace professionals and engineers, excited about the future. That future will only be possible if we share our vision and what it means to people’s lives: carbon-free flight that's better for both passengers and carriers. This is why we’re hiring an Thermo/Fluids Engineer. You will own the development of thermodynamic and fluid dynamic analysis and tools used to support various aircraft systems. You will be responsible for developing requirements and supporting aircraft systems in the validation process. You will coordinate between the various systems and test teams – Environmental Control Systems, Electrical Systems, Flight Controls, Fuel Systems, Hydraulics Systems, Landing Gear Systems, Lab and Flight Test - as necessary to ensure the technical success of the aircraft programs.

JetZero is a place for people who are ambitious, talented, and humble. This role is based in Long Beach, CA reporting to the Head of Aircraft Systems. What You'll Do

Identify program/system-level technical risks and develop and execute mitigation strategies for them.

Perform fluid flow path design, data analyses, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and optimization analyses, including modeling and analysis of thermodynamic systems for power generation, waste heat recovery, and cooling.

Provide direction, oversight, and mentoring to analysis team members.

Collaborate across disciplines to ensure system effectiveness and achieve effective design solutions.

Capable of drawing conclusions and reconciling differences between predicted values and actual results.

Support and/or lead root cause and corrective action investigations using standard problem-solving approaches.

Able to provide insight and suggest design modifications based on analysis outcomes, and to apply analysis techniques across a range of technical disciplines.
