About the role:

The Project Supervisor is a hands-on, tool belt wearing position that will manage assigned projects according to strict deadlines and budgets from start to finish. You will ensure the delivery of Works by JD high quality residential remodeling, carpentry, and painting services in accordance with the company’s policies, procedures, and standards. You will oversee teams consisting of Lead Carpenters, Carpenters and Apprentice Carpenters

Key responsibilities of the role:

As a Leader within the company, the Carpenter Supervisor is required to collaborate across WORKS BY JD and is responsible for overseeing and mentoring a team of Lead Carpenters, Carpenters, and Apprentice Carpenters. This role involves managing teams, projects, and materials, as well as administrative tasks and ensuring compliance with OSHA & EPA regulations, safety, scheduling, and quality standards.

Team Management:

YOUR FIRST JOB IS TO LEAD YOUR TEAM. Ensure the Team around you are performing their duties before you are performing your own individual duties.

Set the standard for the team.

Mentor and train Lead Carpenters, Carpenters and Apprentice Carpenters.

Ensure timeliness and compliance with safety protocols and procedures.

Ensure that field staff understand their roles and follow all WORKS by JD protocols and procedures.

Participate in the process of recruiting, hiring and training staff.

Hold oneself and others accountable as a Leader within the Company.

Communicate daily with the team on the job schedule.

Produce weekly work plan for Lead Carpenters, Carpenters, and Apprentice Carpenters.

Conduct performance reviews for team members.

Address and resolve problems directly with individuals.

Participate in quarterly Employee Development Meetings.

Ensure compliance with existing operating systems and contribute to the development of new ones.

Set objectives and measure results.

Resolve operational challenges by creating appropriate systems.

Collaborate across WORKS by JD to ensure successful completion of projects.

Support Scheduling needs.

Constructively resolve issues, including scheduling issues, in a timely manner.

Ensure all work is installed work plumb, level, and square.

Be the standard that others can go to for the majority of answers through maintaining appropriate training and certification(s). If unsure, always be ready to ask.

Administration:

Document memos to and from all parties involved.

Manage tracked time and update Builder Trend logs daily, including 5-7 pictures to illustrate work accomplished. Delegate to Lead Carpenter(s) where appropriate at Job Sites to ensure tasks are completed.

Oversee completion, compliance, and submission of documentation, including daily logs, timecards, memos, contracts, subcontracts, and Change Orders.

Project Management:

Perform any function required of the role (framing to finish carpentry).

Review project plan details with Lead Carpenters, Carpenters, Apprentice Carpenters and/or customer.

Oversee worksite setup and cleanup.

Ensure work is within the approved scope of Project Plans and Change Order specifications.

Oversee job site cleanliness, organization, and efficiency to ensure budget and schedule compliance.

Communicate changes to scope of work, schedule, or budget with Lead Carpenter and Project Manager, submit Change Orders as needed.

Track progress with review of Tracking Sheets.

Implement quality control standards for work in progress.

Comply with existing operating systems.

Schedule inspections and coordinate inspection process with subcontracted trades as needed.

Materials Management:

Order and handle materials with efficiency and timeliness by anticipating the needs of upcoming weeks. Before ordering materials, ensure all measurements are accurate.

Ensure that company equipment is handled with care.

Maintain inventory and submit receipts daily.

Address equipment deficiencies in the field immediately.

Complete material take-offs with Lead Carpenter and post on Teams weekly.

Coordinate with subcontractors, including scheduling, delivery, and interpretation of technical details.

Ensure all required materials are on-site.

Compliance:

Adhere to all OSHA & EPA regulations for RRP [Renovate Repair, and Painting Program] for anything built prior to 1978.

Communicate with city/county officials for permits, inspections, and certificates of occupancy.

Document compliance requirements for pre- and post-production projects; communicate findings to leadership and field personnel.

Assist cross-functional teams by identifying compliance requirements, assessing resources, and estimating costs for safety measures.

Provide on-site safety direction during job setups, focusing on RRP projects and staging.

Audit safety activities and fulfill reporting requirements.

Manage Works by JD projects to meet and exceed financial, scheduling, and client expectations.

Perform site visits, maximize the team’s productivity, assess the quality of their work, and ensure project management and administrative systems are updated properly. Able to work independently when necessary

Supervise, train, and coach field staff and subcontractors on Works by JD procedures and safety requirements

Communicate and manage project scopes, goals, budgets, and schedules with the appropriate team members

Identify and resolve issues; escalate concerns when necessary. Identify and communicate potential process improvements to leadership and implement approved changes

Communicate with leadership on the project’s status, staffing requirements and assessments, and client and vendor feedback

Maintain an ongoing communication with our clients and ensure that Works by JD is meeting and exceeding their expectations

Inform staff, subcontractors, suppliers, clients, inspectors etc. of project updates, scope changes, change orders and scheduling details

Attend and participate in meetings as required, including but not limited to pre-construction meetings, and on-site walk throughs

Participate in the employee hiring and performance review processes. Provide leadership with regular, timely and useful feedback on job performances, skill levels, and growth potential. Assist with and implement employee development initiatives

Qualifications:

Project supervisory experience or equivalent with 10 years of frame to finish experience in a high-end residential remodeling construction company

A strong knowledge of the building codes

OSHA 30, OSHA 10 and RRP certifications (a plus)

A positive and experienced professional with outstanding leadership, communication, and customer service skills

Physically agile and able to bend, lift, climb, etc. and willing to work in New England weather conditions

Excellent problem-solving skills

Other Requirements:

Must have a valid driver's license, solid driving record and reliable transportation

Eligible to work in the U.S. and willingness to undergo background checks
