Position Title: Diesel Fitter Mechanic

Full-time role

Salary Range: 70.000 to 80.000 AUD$

Location: Canning Vale, Perth & travel to regional WA required.

We are currently seeking a skilled Plant & Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Northern Tasmania. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of a variety of plant machinery and equipment used in our operations. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities:

studying drawings and specifications to determine suitable material, method and sequence of operations, and machine settings

fitting fabricated metal parts into products and assembling metal parts and subassemblies to produce machines and equipment

checking fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments

setting guides, stops and other controls on machining tools, setting up prescribed cutting and shaping tools and dies in machines and presses, and setting controls for textile machines

forming metal stock and castings to fine tolerances using machining tools to press, cut, grind, plane, bore and drill metal

cutting, threading, bending and installing hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines

preparing pattern mechanisms to control the operation of textile machines used to spin, weave, knit, sew and tuft fabric

diagnosing faults and performing operational maintenance of machines, and overhauling and repairing mechanical parts and fluid power equipment

may erect machines and equipment on-site

Qualifications:

AQF Cert III or equivalent qualification or 3 years experience in lieu of qualifications

2 years work experience as a minimum is essential Diesel Fitter Mechanic

Proven experience as a Diesel Fitter Mechanic, preferably in a similar industry or environment.

Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to identify and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and liaise with colleagues and supervisors.

Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Commitment to safety and adherence to relevant OH&S regulations.

Flexibility to work occasional overtime and respond to emergency repair calls outside of regular hours.Preferred Skills:

Experience working with a diverse range of plant machinery, including excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment.

Familiarity with computerized diagnostic tools and software for equipment maintenance.

Welding and fabrication skills.

Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
