Job Purpose
The Director of PR & Communications, BritBox International (BBI) will be responsible for managing communications out of the US, to help drive subscribers and build the reputation and success of the company among key stakeholders. Reporting to the VP Global PR & Communications and working closely with the leadership team, this role will also foster a close relationship with corporate communications at parent company, BBC Studios.
This is a small team in a growing and fast-paced environment - we are looking for someone that can flex in and out of all areas related to corporate communications, traditional publicity, events, talent relations, media relations and awards. This is a relatively new department, so this role will have input on building processes, best practices, communications guidelines, and cross functional alignment.
Responsibilities:
Lead and execute corporate communications strategy for BritBox International, working closely with VP of Global PR & Communications and in tandem with corporate communications leaders at parent company BBC Studios
Key contact for crisis communications
Lead on all written materials for communications department including press releases, lines against enquiry, quotes, talking points, Q&As, fact sheets, investor presentations, speeches, corporate presentations etc.
Pitch and secure speaking opportunities for leadership team
Pitch and secure brand stories in business, consumer and trade media
Ability to flex into and lead on consumer publicity and events as needed
Develop and execute departmental and cross functional processes to increase efficiency and communication within the company.
Work closely with Business Affairs and Programming team to keep abreast of latest deals and weigh in with publicity point of view
Develop and maintain relationships with contacts at key industry events i.e. festival’s and con’s
Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors
Develop and maintain relationships with key distribution and production partners
Project management i.e. end of year mailers
Oversee media site
Oversee company LinkedIn page with creation of content calendar and being proactive with posting of timely news
Oversee internal key dates calendar.
Assist in the management of agencies and consultants
Knowledge and Experience
Seasoned level of entertainment / tech industry experience
Strategic & tactical experience across corporate & consumer stakeholder leadership & execution
Strong US & UK trade media and industry event relationships.
Demonstrable knowledge of the North American and international TV & streaming landscape, some knowledge of British programming
Strong experience of successfully collaborating with and supporting international colleagues
Extensive streaming/TV/film talent relations expertise at a high level
Strong crisis management experience
Event experience preferred
Awards experience preferred
Skills and Personal Attributes
Self-starter and determined approach to achieve success in new environments and structures
World class corporate comms, publicity, talent relations and events experience, in streaming/TV or film
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Strong collaboration skills to enable productive creative and strategic partner support
Calm in pressured situations
Enjoys working with international teams (in UK / Canada / Australia)
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, requiring excellent organizational skills
Understanding of evolving audience requirements and changes across the wider streaming and media industry
Knowledge of and passion for quality TV, British talent & influencer/opinion-former base and key awards
Salary Range: $120 - 150K base salary + competitive benefits + bonus potential
Please note that the salary range is intended to give as an indicator of the salaries that could be attributed to the breadth or experience for a given role. All candidates will be measured based on their level of experience.
Please note, some travel will be required domestically and internationally to Canada and the UK.
