Primary Purpose of Position:

Lead and develop the Finance Operations function which oversees and manages all finance, accounting and reporting activities, including budgeting, forecasting, account reconciliation and profit and loss reporting. Oversee all activities related to annual regulatory audits, tax compliance, and cash flow planning. Ensure that the required systems, policies and procedures are in place to support effective, efficient and compliant finance operations. Assist with the development and execution of strategic initiatives and long-term planning efforts.

Essential Job Functions:

Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements

Oversee all finance operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, T&E processing, fixed assets accounting, capex accounting, and financial reporting

Maintain internal controls and safeguards for receipt of revenue, expense payment processing, petty cash management, company credit card usage, T&E management and organizational budgets

Coordinate all audit & tax activity, ensuring audits with unmodified opinions and timely filing of tax returns

Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep the company leaders abreast of the organization’s financial status

Administer the annual budgeting and planning process ensuring it is consistent with organization’s strategic plan, goals and initiatives; review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.

Support implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning system for financial budgeting and reporting

Responsible for implementation of accounting and financial process improvements, including digitization of accounting transactions

Assist the CFO in engaging the Finance Committee regarding the organization’s financial results

Understand financial drivers, opportunities and challenges of organization incorporating relevant benchmark information. Provide actionable advice to drive the company forward and execute its strategy

Development of business cases and scenario planning as necessary

Assess the finance operations team’s capabilities through periodic performance reviews against roles, responsibilities, and objectives you will establish

Leverage strengths of finance team members and develop and implement appropriate continuing education programs to ensure staff are aligned to their respective roles and positioned to achieve both individual and organizational goals

Education/Training/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; CPA and/or MBA preferred

Five years’ experience in a similar role combined with 3-5 years of audit experience for a Big-4 or other leading audit firm; preferred

Working knowledge of long-term care facility operations and third-party reimbursement (e.g. Medicare / Medicaid)

A proactive, hands-on leader who will take ownership and accountability for finance and accounting operations

A self-motivated leader with the ability to anticipate the finance & accounting needs of his/her business partners, assess risks and deliver appropriate solutions

Demonstrated expertise in establishing and maintaining appropriate control environments

Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which allow for financial data interpretation versus simple reporting

Knowledge at expert level general office software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite as well as strong understanding of ERP systems

Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing financial software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software

Experience collaborating with finance team members and organization leaders to continually assess and identify opportunities to improve finance processes and systems

Skill in successfully mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse team with the management competency and evaluation skills to delegate accordingly

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board or other outside stakeholders

Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels of the organization
