The Missouri University of Science and Technology’s Design & Construction Department Is experiencing unprecedented growth and is seeking a professional mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer to join us and contribute to our team of professionals. We are flexible in the experience of candidates for the position from a person with several years of experience (EI preferred) up to an experienced registered professional engineer with 8 years’ experience or more (Managing Engineer). The ideal candidate will have a broad-based experience level and be able to contribute in the areas of HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing design and have some experience designing these systems for building additions, renovations and new construction. Anticipated Hiring rage for the position is $62,000 to $116,572 annually.

The primary purpose of the Engineer position is to engage our customers, and departments, and to lead the design of building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for a variety of campus projects. The responsibilities for this full-time position, will include participation in meetings with clients to define project parameters, authoring project budgets and schedules and working with architects and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing designers to provide a coordinated and complete designs. These designs may include preparing contract documents and technical specifications suitable for bidding or in-house construction. Other responsibilities included preparing permit applications and monitoring the quality and progress of construction projects.

· Analyze existing building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and apply codes and university standards to design renovations through authoring construction documents in Rev it or Auto CAD

· Perform on-site investigations to verify existing conditions for building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems

· Solve complex design, construction, and system challenges of campus mechanical, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and fire protection systems

· Analyze project feasibility and perform or request design studies relative to project requirements

· Produce detailed designs and specifications of mechanical piping, duct work, secondary electrical and plumbing systems for campus buildings

· Have a working knowledge of heating and cooling systems utilizing heated and chilled water systems directed through coils, air handlers, and duct work.

· Select and size equipment and components to be utilized in the design of projects

· Act as a design, code, and knowledge resource for others in the department

· Perform design and technical review for their own and others on in-house and capital projects

· Develop preliminary and final cost estimates and project schedules

· Acts as a project manager for in-house design, and external consultant led design projects

· Communicate difficult technical information to other design team members and clients with a goal to build consensus

· Perform other job-related duties as assigned
