The Store Manager’s leadership, presence and engagement is critical in supporting the execution of the store strategy to achieve performance goals and drive growth through all aspects of the store, including sales, merchandising, and talent development. In collaboration with the Store Leadership team, the Store Manager’s goal is to develop, engage and inspire teams at every level, cultivating a high performing team that meets or exceeds goals. Leaning into the 3 circles and Friedman’s Way, the Store Manager is accountable for team performance through ongoing teaching, coaching, and providing meaningful feedback to build capabilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ability to problem solve at a high level with solution-based critical thinking, and problem-solving mentality
Responsible for financial performance and meeting key operational metrics, including sales goal, shortage and margin rate
Develop sales and budget strategies using strategic thinking to maximize sales and profitability to forecast sales and labor distribution
Build a strategic vision and drive for results that lead to maximized sales and profitability.
Move the organization forward with a consistent commitment to meeting goals and objectives
Manage daily store operations to drive operational initiatives and ensure profitability
Strong emotional intelligence, resilience, communication, and the ability to influence Team Members
Hands on leadership to mentor and inspire a highly functioning and engaged team by continuously motivating and developing Team Members to meet the short and long-term needs of the business

Regularly scheduled departmental walk to ensure a Grand Opening Ready experience for our customers and team
Ownership of safety culture and metrics for store
Education and/Experience
Preferred bachelor’s degree in management and/or related degrees
Retail management experience at an equivalent sales volume store
Minimum 5 years Assistant Store Manager or equivalent level experience
Preferred experience managing a lumber yard, warehouse and/or sales teams
Demonstrated leadership through positions of increasing responsibility
Strong understanding of technology and software

Proven history of quickly and thoughtfully analyzing information and leveraging the team to facilitate successful execution and continuous improvement
Ability to lead, coach, develop and build a high performing team

Location/Hours: This is an exempt position located at the Friedman’s Home Improvement retail store in Sonoma County. The Store Manager will work a retail schedule to command their store location during the highest traffic hours of the day and days of the week. Presence through varied shifts is necessary to ensure complete understanding of store operations from open to close.
