Tool Designer

Our manufacturing client is seeking a Tool Designer to join the team at their large, modern facility in Lebanon, NH. The ideal candidate has experience in progressive stamping tool design and isn’t afraid to ask questions. Responsibilities of the Tool Designer

Conceptualize, plan, and execute the design of progressive stamping tooling

Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with existing tooling

Analyze product designs for manufacturing feasibility and make recommendations to shorten delivery time, cut costs, and improve quality

Specify purchased tooling components and follow through for timely and accurate delivery

Work collaboratively with product designers, process engineers, production personnel, toolmakers, CNC programmers, and various vendors to optimize tool design

Publish and disseminate models and drawings to management, toolmakers, and others to use

Help track tool progress in terms of both budget and timing

Assist in developing tooling standards in a team-based environment

Participate in tooling design reviews and suggest improvements where necessary

Qualifications of the Tool Designer

High school diploma or equivalent required; 2-year technical education or equivalent in years of experience preferred

3-5+ years of hands-on progressive stamping tool design experience is ideal

Knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes related to the industry

Ability to visualize complex 3-dimensional geometry and motion

Creative, innovative mechanical aptitude

Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills

Demonstrated proficiency with CAD design, 3-D experience
