Industrial Design Engineer

The Product Development Team collaborates directly with customers on design and development for various projects. Based in Plymouth, Michigan, withwork from home flexibility, the Industrial Design Engineer reports to the Head of Product Development NA. Their primary role is to support major automotive manufacturers in the U.S., such as Ford, GM, and Stellantis, focusing on securing new projects for extruded aluminum alloy products, including crash management structures, body-in-white (BIW) structures, and battery enclosures.

Job Functions:

Collaborate on automotive product design and development, including gathering OEM requirements.

Create 3D CAD models and drawings.

Oversee internal testing and evaluate results.

Conduct root cause analyses to solve issues.

Assist manufacturing plants with engineering modifications.

Facilitate data transfer to and support for sub-suppliers.

Tasks may vary based on project needs.

Qualifications:

Required: A Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a similar field.

Must have working knowledge of Office and Microsoft products.

Essential understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

Preferred experience with CAD, especially CATIA v5.
