Job Summary:
Our office in San Jose, CA is looking for an Electrical Engineer to design electrical systems for buildings such as K-12 schools, higher education, retail/mixed use spaces, health care, and commercial spaces for new facilities, additions, and renovation projects.
In this position, you would be expected to provide technical leadership for the creation of construction drawings and specifications, existing system studies and master planning efforts. Qualified candidates will meet with clients, project teams, code officials, contractors, and others to address mechanical issues to develop effective working relationships.
Your Background
To succeed in this role, you need to meet the following basic requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
EIT strongly preferred
3-5 years of experience
LEED certification / experience is a plus
Knowledge in the design of power distribution, fire alarm, data & comm, lighting, and e-power systems
Familiarity with codes, standards, and design guidelines
Excellent work ethic and attitude
Good communication skills, combined with organizational skills, ability to plan, balance and prioritize work
Ability to lead a team as well as work as part of a team
Proficiency in Auto CAD, Revit, and MS Office
Experience with lighting software (Visual) a plus
Ability to travel
Your Duties
Here are the details of your duties in this role:
Develop electrical system designs of a given project based on scope of work and/or client RFPs
Provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of electrical systems for a variety of market types
Conduct existing building surveys and documentation of existing electrical systems
Develop system design calculations and selection of equipment for use in buildings
Writing/editing project specifications
Prepare detailed design documents, reports, and studies
Code compliance research
Coordinating work with other disciplines
Location: San Jose, CA
Travel: Minimal - up to 10% of the time.
