Salary: $140k-$180k

In this role, the Staff Manager of Thermal Technical Programs will have the responsibility of overseeing and coordinating the thermal cooling solutions for server and storage platform projects across their entire lifecycle. This includes guiding design and development efforts from initial product concept and planning all the way through production, product release, and eventual end-of-life considerations.

Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee the tracking of thermal requirements from initial concept to production and continuous support across a range of server and storage platforms. Ensure timely delivery of thermal solutions.

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the alignment of thermal fan speed control implementation with firmware and program timelines.

Take the lead in organizing cross-functional meetings involving hardware, firmware, and thermal teams to resolve thermal issues effectively.

Arrange meetings with fan and heatsink vendors, working in collaboration with the procurement department to gather technology roadmaps.

Schedule in-depth thermal discussions with CPU partners and other ASIC companies as necessary to collect technical documentation.

Provide 24/7 management of thermal chamber allocation based on priority, customer requirements, and program needs.

Work with the legal team and third-party labs to establish NDAs and purchase orders when third-party testing is required.

Optimize the utilization of thermal resources efficiently.

Offer thermal laboratory tours and demonstrations to customers when they visit our facility.

Requirements:

Extensive expertise and practical familiarity with thermal chambers, thermocouples, data loggers, thermal testing apparatus, fans, heatsinks, thermal interface materials, and more.

Proficient in thermal design for servers and storage platforms.

Proficient in the development and fine-tuning of algorithms controlling thermal fan speeds.

Competent in conducting benchmark tests such as SPEC power and performance.

Hands-on experience in working with thermal chambers and thermal laboratories.

A solid grasp and proficiency in thermal Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software like FloTherm.

Effective management of cross-functional teams, with strong interpersonal skills and an adaptable communication approach.

Demonstrated proficiency in project management, including schedule development and milestone tracking.

Competencies:

Proficiency in comprehending the interactions between hardware and system software, along with the capability to utilize this expertise in troubleshooting technical problems.

Skill in objectively analyzing situations from various viewpoints.

Aptitude for defining scenarios and formulating decisions or guiding them.

Competence in addressing intricate issues, pursuing outcomes, fostering innovation, engaging in strategic thinking, and providing leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:

BS in Mechanical Engineering. Masters preferred.

5+ years of relevant experience in thermal design for server and storage platform development

5+ years as a lead
