Aircraft Painter

Job Description

FTS is seeking a few Painters who are motivated, have previous paint exp (either auto, or ship a plus), flexible and eager to learn in Mobile, AL.

7am - 7pm

Essential Duties:

• Apply materials according to appropriate time standards.

• Sand and mask surfaces of various materials.

• Apply special materials including paints, undercoats, primer coats, sealers, and topcoats by original manufacturer standards of quality.

• Utilize standard paint equipment such as conventional and airless spray equipment, motorized lifts, brushes, rollers, and other related equipment.

• Wear appropriate safety equipment according to OSHA and FAA guidelines.

• Use and dispose of hazardous materials according to safety procedures.

• Read technical safety data sheets and other reading materials to stay current on safety issues and paint technology.

• Log the amount of materials used for each job in a logbook.

• Perform shop equipment maintenance and cleaning.

• Maintain inventory and notify Supervisor of any stock shortages.

• Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

• Assist in the proper erection of scaffold and ladders.

• Complete general housekeeping.

• Safely drive vehicles as required.

• Complete grounds maintenance work, including parking lot clean-up and maintaining building appearance.

• Lift and carry materials and equipment throughout work areas using appropriate equipment.

• Maintain neat and orderly work areas at all times.

• Report any problems/concerns or discrepancies to management.

• Attend and successfully complete required training classes to maintain technical competencies.

• Report all occupational injuries or illnesses to Supervisor immediately.

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.

• Attend work as scheduled within the attendance policy.

Requirements/Skills:

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

• Proficiency in using fingers, hands, and wrists to grab and hold heavy equipment.

• Strong mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

• Proficiency in converting and reading liquid measurements in metrics.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact cordially with all employees.

• Effective multitasking and prioritization skills.

• Proficiency in using Genie Boom, Platform lift, Arial Access platforms, and forklift.

• Ability to use general office equipment including computer and time machines.

• Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating clearly in English.

• Physical ability to stand, walk, talk, hear, and see clearly, and occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.

• Vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.

• Availability to work shifts including nights and weekends, and overtime.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand; use hands and reach with hands and arms frequently.

• Ability to walk, talk, hear, and see clearly.

• Occasional sitting; climbing or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

• Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 80 pounds.
