Job Summary: The Assembler I performs repetitive bench-type assembly operations to mass produce various radiator cores. The Assembler I receives specific work assignments under general supervision and resolves most problems with some supervisory assistance. All work is subject to final inspection and test to ensure that cores meet established specifications and to reduce scrap and control excess labor and material expense. The Assembler I is expected to practice and adhere to the Companyâ s Six Sigma principles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with other duties assigned as necessary:

Reviews job orders (written or verbal) and determines material needs.

Selects and assembles proper materials and parts for building specific cores.

Assembles cores by performing various manual tasks including:

Inserting fins into fin table; inserting tubes into fins to create core blocks.

Operating bake oven (setting bake time/temperature; ensuring cores are square).

Attaching headers on cores (with mallet).

Using fin comb and torch to straighten fins (or by hand); repairing fin gaps (torch only).

Using high pressure wash to clean cores.

Inspects cores for imperfections, etc.; prepares/attaches core tags.

Cleans and maintains work area (daily), core building equipment and other tools of the trade.

Works in a safe manner at all times.

Ensures that all work is done in accordance with and adheres to IEAâ s ISO and Quality standards.

Physical Demands:

Maximum lifting requirement (pounds): 100 assisted lifting (infrequently), 50 (occasionally), 25 (frequently).

Maximum moving requirement (pounds): 100 with assisted lifting

Maintaining physical condition necessary for the following: Frequent standing, walking, crouching, stooping, squatting, and twisting upper body; infrequent climbing, kneeling or sitting.

Working at heights off the ground up to: Not applicable.

Vision requirements: Close, distance, and peripheral vision; depth perception.

Key skills, abilities and knowledge:

Ability to read and understand job requirements, shop drawings, bills of material and blueprints.

Knowledge of properties of core materials, structural metals and related materials (OJT).

Skill in operating and maintaining core manufacturing equipment and related tools of the trade (OJT).

Knowledge of occupational hazards and the ability to follow safe work practices.

Ability to communicate and work effectively with others.

Experiential: One or more years of manufacturing or related experience is desirable. Company will train employees on the job.

Educational: Related technical training (high school or beyond) is desirable but not essential.

Certificates, Licenses: Fork lift operator certification is desirable but not essential.

Shift hours are from 5 am to 1:30 pm. Must have availability to work 10 hours.
