Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Histology

Job Summary

We are looking for individuals to join our client’s team as Clinical Laboratory Technologist – Histology. You will assist the Supervisor in the daily technical operations of the Pathology Laboratory. Additionally, work Independently under general direction to address laboratory needs as the occasion arises.

Job Description

Assist with the supervision of the technical staff and provide support to the supervisor.

Assist in monitoring and compliance of organization's service standards by laboratory employees.

Ensure that the supervisor is kept aware if work situations and the performance of each employee on an ongoing basis.

Train newly hired technical staff effectively in the procedures of the department and pertinent policies.

Oversee technical performance of new employees during orientation and less qualified personnel assigned to the same area.

Orient existing employees to new procedures and/ or changes in existing procedures.

Review labels, and requisition forms for accuracy of data.

Identifies discrepancies between forms and specimen labels.

Centrifuges/aliquots specimens according to protocol,

Identifies and expedites 'STAT' requests.

Keep work bench neat and organized.

Identifies and prepares accurately specimens which have been collected by phlebotomy team, nurses, or physicians in according to laboratory policies and procedures.

Check samples to ensure correct identification and that it matches with accompanying label to ensure accuracy of recording and reporting of results.

Divide specimen when multiple tests are ordered.

Compiles daily worksheet in accordance with test(s) requested.

Perform serological procedures on body fluids.

Responsible for performing and assessing clinical laboratory tests on specimens for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in a timely manner.

Demonstrates knowledge of the organization's Service Standards and incorporates them into the performance of duties. Supervises subordinates in the absence of a supervisor.

All other duties assigned by supervisor or designee.

Skills Required

1 year Histology Clinical Laboratory Technologist experience

Education/Training/Certifications

Associate Degree (Community College, MBO)

Valid license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist issued by NYSED, Primary Source Verification required.

Additional Requirements

Malpractice Insurance - All clinical workers are required to have active individual Medical Malpractice. A copy must be provided prior to start of assignment. All clinical workers licensed by the state of NY are required to provide.

Shift Time: 8:00 AM-4:00 PM
