Job Overview:

For the purposes of providing Protestant burials at Arlington National Cemetery (ANC); The candidate

shall serve as a Protestant Minister to conduct funerals at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington,

Virginia, or at any designated location within the National Capital Region in fulfillment of Arlington

National Cemetery's mission, and in accordance with the Navy Regulations and Federal Acquisition

Regulations. The candidate will conduct religious funeral services, memorial services, and graveside

services in accordance with their faith tradition and as outlined in this Job Description.

Job Details:

Position: Protestant Minister

Location: National Capital Region in fulfillment of Arlington National Cemetery's mission.

Memorial Ave. Arlington, Virginia 22211

Pay Rate: $60/Service

Schedule:

5-10 services a week, 2-3 services a day, but not necessarily every day.

The ANC (Arlington National Cemetery) schedules the services at least 1 month prior.

The number and type of funeral services vary every day.

The ANC is responsible for Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard services. ANC central scheduling

is scheduling for all branches, and this creates variation within the schedule.

The normal Standard Operating Procedure is that once services are assigned to a chaplain, that

chaplain will contact the family a week before the service to discuss the decedent's life,

preference for Scripture readings and other pertinent information for the service. On the day of

the service, the chaplain needs to be on site 1 hour prior. They will meet with the family usually

about hour prior to the service and then conduct the service. A good 'rule of thumb' is to

block out two hours per service on the day of the service.

Qualifications:

- The candidate shall provide a work force possessing the skills, knowledge, and training to satisfactorily

perform the services required.

- The candidate shall be an ordained Protestant Minister who possesses the current and valid faculties of their

Ecclesiastical body; fully qualified and experienced in providing pastoral care to parishioners, family

members, and staff. He must meet all of the credential and educational requirements of the Protestant

denomination.

- The candidate must be sensitive to religious pluralism, and qualified spiritually, morally, intellectually, and

emotionally to serve as a Protestant Minister for the duration of the contract.

- Have experience in providing pastoral care for parishioners, Family members and staff members; and have

knowledge, skills, and ability in the following areas: pastoral counseling, spiritual direction, and homily

preparation and delivery.

- The candidate shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough effectively to communicate with

families and chapel staff; and well enough to preach fluently in English.

- The candidate is responsible for personal and professional training as a current Protestant.

- Personal Appearance. The candidate shall dress in a neat, professional manner in keeping with standard

practices, and will wear the proper robes, clerical garb and/or vestments of his profession.

Specific Tasks:

Conduct Navy funerals at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, or at any designated place

within the National Capital Region in fulfillment of Arlington National Cemetery's mission, and in

accordance with the Navy Regulations and Federal Acquisition Regulations. They will conduct interment

religious services, and graveyard services in accordance with their faith tradition and as outlined in this

statement of work. They shall also contact the Primary Next of Kin (PNOK) or Person Authorized Direct

Disposition (PADD) for all assigned funerals and provide additional pastoral ministrations in counseling

prior to each service in preparation for each service. Definition of a Service is described as any of the

following, all the following, or a combination of the following:

a. Contact PNOK or PADD one (1) week prior to interment service at ANC.

b. Meet with family in designated family rooms one (1) hour prior to graveside services.

c. Being present and participating at the designated place for transfers, and

d. Conducting graveside services. (150 ea)
