Your future plans

The HSE Advisor is responsible for providing independent, expert, and professional advice and guidance to the development project teams on all health, safety and environmental management issues, actively participate in and promoting a high standard of health, safety, and environmental awareness and We Care culture across the Offshore Development projects in the Netherlands.

Maintenance of HSE (Health, Safety & Environmental) risk registers in relation to allocated offshore development activities for projects where RWE lead development.

Liaising with Procurement on HSE topics related to allocated offshore development activities for projects where RWE lead development

Produce, review and update HSE related documentation required by the allocated offshore development activities for projects where RWE lead development

Proactively support and advise line/project management in meeting their HSE responsibility (incl. but not limited to risk assessments) with technical, organizational and procedural as well as compliance advice.

Engage and develop relationships with development teams to eliminate and reduce risks, develop HSE culture on projects and adherence to local and RWE HSE standards and rules

Cooperate with line management and where applicable JV board members to develop and implement measures and solutions to address HSE challenges.

Planning, steering and follow-up of HSE activities at Development Project level in coordination with the fleet wide HSE management of RWE OFFSHORE.

Attend meetings, site visits and technology reviews with sub-contractors & clients in relation to offshore development as required and as directed by Lead Offshore HSE Manager (Development and Construction( (EU)/Global Head of Offshore HSE (Development, Construction, New markets & Technologies)

Supporting evaluation of potential port/project locations such as lay down areas, port infrastructures, O&M buildings, Warehouses etc.

Supporting Marine and Logistics on vessel selections with regards to HSE matters

Support early Stage Development Project activities (onshore and offshore) on HSE matters in the Netherlands.

Problem Solving/Complexity

Role involves evaluations of multiple risk management and control approaches to HSE risk, which need to be considered at a local and project wide level for practical implementation against the backdrop of industry good practice, Federal, State and local Regulation.

Support the development and implementation of Site, Country, Regional HSE management systems, safe systems of work procedures and other risk control measures for offshore Development activities as required

Country inputs have to be considered on a daily basis to evaluate project wide approaches that are in line with the wider Offshore Development & Construction projects strategy in the Netherlands, Industry good practice and RWE Offshore HSE requirements.

Develop strategies with the Development Project HSE teams, zero harm philosophy and practical implementation of HSE risk controls and standards.

Responsible for Project wide recommendations for risk controls and HSE standard adoptions across the Offshore Development projects in the Netherlands

Evaluation of industry standards and how they impact the different WTG fleet models, manufacturer requirements and industry wide HSE good practice and new industry ways of working.

Maintain relationships with N-1/N-2/N-3 leadership and managerial levels in the Offshore Development & Construction project organisations in the Netherlands

Engaging with the wider RWE Offshore organisation and business support functions such as procurement, HR, Legal, HSE and Engineering/Technical Contracting.

Potential future management of FTE and HSE Contractors across multiple countries and sites.

Act as interface for HSE matters in the Netherlands, maintain relationships and exchange on relevant HSE related topics.

Your profile

Degree in Health and Safety related discipline, engineering / safety engineering or similar.

A recognised qualification in Occupational Health & Safety

Minimum 3 years’ experience as HSE professional

A Level 3 or higher qualification in an environmental discipline in Environmental Management.

Relevant audit qualification such as OHSAS 18001 internal auditor, along with an Incident root cause analysis qualification.

GWO certification desirable.

Previous experience working in Wind Construction/Renewables Energy Construction and understanding of Wind Development activities in the Netherlands

Previous experience of working in Oil and Gas, Offshore wind sector, experience of vessel management and maritime activities would advantageous

Able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of relevant Dutch legislation with specific knowledge of local Occupational Safety and Health & Environmental and Marine Pollution regulations

Able to demonstrate a flexible, practical and creative approach HSE management

Flexibility and willingness to travel on a regular basis between the Netherlands and other EU locations

Self-initiative, reliable, systematic and consistent with a customer orientated approach.

Mobile, able to work in a time-sensitive setting, team-oriented.

Good health, with general all round fitness to work in an offshore environment

Driving licence is essential.

Fluency in English and Dutch language
