The Tours Digital Solutions team within EF Tours is the group of engineering and creative professionals empowering EF to send groups of students and educators on guided educational tours across the world. We power every step of our customer’s journey – from showcasing our tour offerings, to creating personalized itineraries, and collecting their feedback after the tour.

About the role

You will work across multiple of EF Tours’ products in which you will help to provide the opportunity for students to experience educational travel experiences across the world each year. This role is embedded in the Tours Financial Platform team which is responsible for the payments domain, financial integrations (internal and also third-party), and a handful of other backend services that support many of the EF Tours’ products.

As an Associate Software Engineer (f/m/x) your main objective is to deliver features for your colleagues to work effectively and efficiently within our systems. You will gain a deep understanding of the current systems and solutions, design and build improvements alongside your team of product managers, designers, and other engineers to reach our common goals. You should be a team player with strong technical knowledge, who is eager to learn, and has a passion for building products that our customers will love.

How you will contribute

Work closely with your team and business stakeholders to design and deliver high-value, performant, and innovative software solutions for complex business problems

Partner with other engineers in your team, promoting knowledge sharing and experimentation to facilitate a culture of learning

Actively participate in and drive Agile approaches and processes

Support the company to grow in a healthy way by creating a culture of constructive feedback, and participating in hiring and capacity planning

Who you are

2+ years of professional experience with common languages (such as C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, etc.)

Enjoy working on a mixture of hands-on development, design, and mentoring staff.

Understand characteristics and trade-offs of programming paradigms such as object-oriented vs functional, or architectural styles like modular monoliths vs. microservices

A strong desire to learn new and current technologies and go outside your technical comfort zone, with the pragmatism to find the most optimal solution for the problem

Strong team player with great communication skills and a passion for collaboration, with the ability to articulate high-level concepts and engage a cross-functional audience

Empathy and understanding of other disciplines in and around the product

Interest in the travel industry &/or financial industry (we do both, somewhat) and solving the complex business problems presented

Interest in using principles and techniques of Domain-Driven Design to manage business complexity is a plus!
