The Ohio Attorney General’s Office has played a vital role in shaping Ohio’s past and present and the work it does today helps chart the state’s future. The office consists of nearly 30 distinct sections that advocate for consumers and victims of crime, assist the criminal justice community, provide legal counsel for state offices and agencies, and enforce certain state laws. In these and other capacities, staff members interact with tens of thousands of Ohioans each year.

What You'll Do:

The Taxation Section is seeking an experienced attorney with excellent oral, written, and client communication skills. The Tax Section represents the Tax Commissioner of Ohio in evidentiary hearings conducted by the Board of Tax Appeals, and in direct appeals taken from that tribunal to the Ohio Supreme Court and courts of appeal throughout Ohio. We also defend the Commissioner in declaratory judgment actions and other suits brought in the courts of common pleas. The successful candidate will have superb legal writing and trial advocacy skills, and experience or interest in appellate advocacy. Previous tax experience is not required. This position is remote. The headquarter location is 30 E. Broad St, Columbus Ohio.
