Purpose:
Lead Automation / Autonomous Engineer will research, develop, design, configure, and test a variety of equipment, components, products, and systems for commercial and industrial purposes. Supervisory and administrative responsibility over a group of engineers or functions as a technical specialist formulating and developing advanced concepts, techniques, and standards. Responsibilities include assuring effective system design, client value generation, utilization of engineering personnel and technical quality.
Full-time Hybrid position in Worley offices in Ontario, Alberta or BC.
Responsibilities:
Knowledge resource for the instrumentation, control systems and process automation field
Support development of control narratives, testing documentation and commissioning/startup documentation
Develop system architecture design documentation for Automation or Autonomous solutions
Develop automation system software for PLC, DCS, HMI and SCADA Systems.
Provide technical direction for the design, configuration and troubleshooting of firewalls, routers, switches and other network infrastructure (Office and Field Experience required)
Support P&ID, Arch or System design development; help maintain the documents through the course of each project phase
Support development of the Instrument Index and I/O List; help maintain the Instrument Index and I/O List through the course of each project phase
Support development of material / labor TIC cost estimates
Support development of engineering / design effort hour estimates
Support incorporation of control systems content into mechanical equipment vendor packages
Coordinate with HVC workshare office to ensure work packages are being prepared in compliance with home office requirements
Provide technical direction for selection of items to be specified or purchased, ensure compliance with client requirements and standards, check specifications and requisition packages prepared by others
Prepare technical bid evaluations and make recommendations for purchase
Review vendor data to assure specifications and project requirements are met
Review long lead requisition package deliveries for compliance with schedule critical path
Develop control systems construction scope of work documents
What you will bring
Technical and Industry Experience:
10+ years of experience in mining, Mining operations or heavy industry preferred.
Fluent in English read, write and speak
Experience in the deployment and operations of autonomous solutions in the mining industry.
Field Experience in deployment and / or operations required
Field Experience in the commissioning of PLC and Automation System
Experience with various Autonomous Solution / products required
Experience with various Automation products required
Experience with various other controls software platforms preferred
Strong System Integration abilities and background required
Experience in developing and maintaining process control networks required
Current knowledge of EPC work processes as well as familiarity with the various project phases and the scope/deliverables required
Knowledge of the application, specification and installation of tagged field instruments required
Thorough understanding of P&ID symbology and presentation techniques required
Lead Engineer capabilities required
Experience Leading E&I teams including multiple engineers and designers required
Excellent oral and written communication skills required
Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) required
Experience in various phases of vendor selection and technical negotiation is preferred
Experience in inspection and testing of instrumentation items preferred
Experience in instrument installation requirements preferred
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
Required:
Recognized Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in engineering or technical field from an accredited college or University preferred.
Preferred:
Registered P.Eng license preferred.
