Our client, an Automotive Manufacturing Tier 1 Supplier located in Windsor is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic engineering team in their Tech Centre located in Mississauga

This role is pivotal in managing and maintaining their extensive drawing library, executing engineering changes, and ensuring the seamless exchange of technical data with customers. With a focus on automotive powertrain systems, the Mechanical Design Engineer will work closely with Product Engineers, Program Management, and other cross-functional teams to support the design and development of innovative automotive products. This position demands a high level of flexibility, urgency, and ownership, offering an opportunity to contribute significantly to our engineering excellence.

Responsibilities:

Drawing Library Management

Maintain and manage the drawing library daily, encompassing both 3D and 2D designs through Team Center Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.

Execute drawing updates for engineering changes in collaboration with the program management team. CAD Modeling and Drawing

Create and release CAD models/drawings to support Product Application and Development Engineers, utilizing tools like CATIA & SolidWorks.

Transfer customer 2D drawings into the company's format (bilingual – English & Chinese) and ensure their release into the drawing library.Customer and Supplier Engagement

Manage product communications and interactions with customers and suppliers, adhering to their standards and requested CAD formats (e.g., NX, CATIA).Design and Development Support

Participate in drafting work for new product design under the guidance of senior design engineers.

Support manufacturing engineering with potential fixture design, floor layout, etc.Change Control and Compliance

Facilitate the change control process in PLM with cross-functional teams, ensuring compliance with internal and customer processes, regulations, and standards. Miscellaneous Responsibilities

Project on-time delivery rate

Compliance rate with customer and internal standardsCompetencies / Behaviors:

A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Proven capability to manage multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Demonstrated ability for continuous improvement, with a proactive approach to streamlining and enhancing engineering processes. Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.

A minimum of 5 years of automotive CAD experience, preferably in the powertrain area.

Strong proficiency in CAD software, particularly CATIA & SolidWorks. MUST have 2d/3d design experience

High level Expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes including stamping, machining, welding, heat treating, and assembly.

Proficient in PLM/Teamcenter applications.

Experience in structural/fluid simulation is considered an asset.

Fluency in Mandarin is greatly preferred, capable of handling bilingual drawing formats.

Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across functional teams and adapt to global time zones (NA, EU, & China).
