PURPOSE & SCOPE OF THE POSITION:

Maintain Electrical and Instrumental systems in a mine and process environment. Work in a team environment internally and externally within the E & I Department. Preserve personal safety and the safety of coworkers. Learn new things and teach others, so that we can improve as individuals and as a team.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Follow safe work procedures and best practices.

Maintain, service, install and troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation systems.

Assist other departments as needed.

Maintain a clean work environment.

Participate in cross training.

Ability to work extended hours, non-standard shifts and respond to callouts.

Participate in job planning.

Participate in meetings and discussions.

Be a role model to others in safe behavior.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:

Electrical and Instrumentation experience.

Must be familiar with 3-phase, 480-volt motor circuitry and basic trouble-shooting techniques.

Must be able to follow blueprints, sketches, diagrams and manuals for installation and troubleshooting circuitry.

Experience with medium and high voltage switchgear switching and troubleshooting required.

Knowledge of the National Electric Code and NFPA-70E is required.

A valid Driver's License.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:

2+ years mining experience in Electrical and Instrumentation preferred.

Working knowledge of MSHA laws, particularly those pertaining to electrical and instrumentation installation and maintenance is a plus.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Same as Required Work Experience.

N/A

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Heavy: Exerting 50 to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 lbs. of force constantly. Physical demand requirements are greater than that required for Medium Work.

OTHER DUTIES:

This position is designated working a rotating day shift schedule. However, the Electrician/Instrumentation Technician is expected to be able to respond to call-outs on off-shifts as required. Successful applicants must provide their own hand tools.
