Salary: $70,000 - 85,000/year The Chemical Process Engineer is responsible for contributing to development and expansion efforts through new product and process design, technology scaling, equipment selection, and process and product enhancement, aligning with the organization’s objectives in cost efficiency, quality improvement, and timely delivery.

This role involves hands-on problem-solving in manufacturing processes, including chemical reactions, process optimization, and equipment troubleshooting.

Commonly used tools include Process Hazards Assessment, Design of Experiments, Statistical Process Control, and Lean Manufacturing principles.

Responsibilities

Apply expertise in engineering to advise on best practices in chemical manufacturing operations.

Identify, assess, design, and validate new equipment, materials, and processes to support process scaling and product introduction.

Manage the transition of chemical production from R&D to pilot plant and from pilot plant to contract manufacturer.

Proactively seek out opportunities for process improvement in terms of quality, cost, and safety, and implement continuous improvement plans.

Oversee maintenance plans, equipment modifications, and contractor management activities.

Enhance process controls within the manufacturing environment.

Investigate and resolve manufacturing quality issues using structured root cause investigation methods.

Develop material and process specifications and provide training as needed.

Support Change Management through the Quality Management System.

Collaborate on environmental, health, and safety initiatives to ensure regulatory compliance and employee engagement.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.

2+ years of experience directly supporting batch or continuous chemical production processes.

Prior experience with engineering processes involving hazardous materials.

Familiarity with Process Safety Management principles.

Demonstrated skills in process improvement and project management.

Basic understanding of Federal and State regulations; preferred experience interpreting OSHA, EPA, IBC, and NFPA codes.
