YOU

As an Automation/Controls Engineer you will support the plant automation equipment, the controls for the production and warehouse equipment. You will help support the production maintenance technicians. Help lead the Maintenance Specialist to the future with training and keeping the plant ready for the future. Have control over the OT network.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)

Install, start-up, and maintain plant/facility electrical equipment and control systems. Troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based control systems. Integrate existing and new equipment, as needed. Identify, maintain, and troubleshoot motor controls, including motor starters, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and standard electrical components. Troubleshoot industrial electrical. Communicate technical issues to facilities and operations management. (40%)

Build, support, and train the building IACS and SCADA systems. (20%)

Assist any maintenance needs for the plant. (20%)

Educate fellow peers on and any additional skills necessary to improve the department. (20%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

BS Degree in electronic technology or related field required, or equivalent experience.

5 years’ minimum experience in systems controls and PLC programming in an industrial environment.

7 years’ minimum experience in industrial maintenance experience.

3 years of team leadership experience.

Maintenance Knowledge: Experience in supporting a wide range of different conveyors, sortation systems, and robotics within an IACS (Industrial Automation Controls System) network. Familiarity with Stamping Presses and related equipment is preferred.

Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems required.

Software: Software: Proficient with Rockwell’s RSLogix 500 & 5000, FactoryTalk Suite Platform, FactoryTalk View, Studio 5000, RSLinx; AutomationDirect’s Do-more, C-more, DirectSOFT, CLICK. Proficient with AutoCAD, FANUC robotics.

Safety: Strongly understand and ensure compliance with the NFPA 70E-Electrical Safety in the Workplace, NFPA 70 (NEC), and OSHA Standards.

Experience with using Lean tools with Root Cause Analysis to solve equipment issues.

Simpson Strong-Tie Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification (will certify at hire) required.

Communication: Able to effectively communicate in group settings and one on one.

Speaking and Communication: Communicate effectively with co-workers, listen with full attention to what other people are saying while understanding the needs expressed, and ask questions appropriately without interrupting at an inappropriate time. Having the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, vendors, and other organization employees are also necessary.

Technology: Proficiency in a Microsoft PC environment to utilize Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), and the Internet to virtually complete work. Demonstrate the knowledge to implement and maintain industrial protocols such as Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, and Profibus.

Mathematics: Knowledge of advanced arithmetic, algebra, geometry.

Self-Management: Ability to display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment while standing for approximately 8-12 hours, regularly twisting and bending in a repetitive motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The job may risk exposure to heat and/or cold, loud noise levels, vibration, and moving mechanical parts.

TRAVEL REQUIRED

This job requires less than 10% domestic travel.

This full-time, exempt position is located in Columbus, OH.

RELOCATION

Relocation is not available for this position.

PAY

$71,500 - $92,900 / year
