Position Overview

The Novelis North America Metal team, located in Atlanta, Georgia, is seeking a Metal Buyer. The successful candidate must be capable of communicating effectively and frequently with all levels of suppliers and plant management in performance of their responsibilities. Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to negotiate, is a critical success factor. In addition, organizational and time management skills. The candidate must possess strong analytical skills for effective budgeting and cost analysis for scrap tolling. The incumbent must be a self-starter and capable of making decisions.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities

Efficiently negotiate the efficient procurement of commodities and services

Develop and maintain cost analysis for purchased inputs

Inventory management

Assist with supplier & internal customer invoice issues, concerns relating to deliveries, stock status

Data Collection for commodities, plant or corporate procurement initiatives as required

Maintain Department Statistics / Metrics Reports, SQD & TS Certification documentation, and Supplier score cards as developed.

Scanning and administrative activities

Promote EHS policy, implement the EHS management system and ensure continual improvement of EHS performance in day to day operations.

Expedite procurement / open orders

Support Novelis SQRM and Sustainability initiatives

Adopt and promote the Novelis cultural beliefs of Do It Right, Say Anything, Own It!, Get Focused and Win Together

Minimum qualifications

Proven 2-5 years in the purchasing field

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Business, or related field

Ability to establish objectives for reducing cost

Strong Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Outlook, and Excel)

Self-starter with consistent track record in problem solving/resolution

Some knowledge/exposure to Maintenance related MRO commodities

Experience in SAP Procurement/Maintenance System's is preferred

Experience in the following areas is required: Contractor and supplier development, scope of work review, value analysis, delivery and quality assurance, alternative material evaluation, price increase challenges, specification clarification, service contract development and management, maintaining adequate inventories of new materials/operating supplies, resolution of invoice and receipt discrepancies, disposal of the surplus material and equipment, general business engineering analysis of projects, preparation of data and reports
