Type of job: Contract

Installation Technician

Low voltage public transit installation projects

Work will include removal of old electronic components (Fare Gates, Bus Validators, and Ticket Vending Machines) and cabling, installing new components and cabling, terminating low voltage electrical wiring to 12 and 24 volt power sources on vehicles. Will need to have some experience with mounting equipment/components, running cables and wiring, stripping and preparing wiring, crimping electrical terminals onto wiring, terminating wires to electrical sources such as breakers, terminal blocks, grounding lugs, etc. Candidates will need to have previous electronics/electromechanical /construction /trades experience.

Most importantly, techs need to know how to use power and hand tools. We are not able to train from scratch. Note that the bus steps are steep and fareboxes weigh around 80 pounds.

Job duties will include:

Identifying correct electronic components and cables

Removal of old electronic components and cables

Installation of new equipment and components

Running new cables

Terminating connectors

Terminating to power sources

Securing wiring after work completed

Ensuring system powers up correctly

Assisting with troubleshooting if needed

Cleaning work areas

Skills required:

Low voltage electrical background preferred

Experience with electronic components

Experience with electrical connectors and terminations

Experience with hand and power tools

Experience running cables or wiring

Ability to work standing, bending, or crouching for long periods of time

Ability to follow directions and complete tasks in a timely manner

Must commit to entire length of projects

Must be reliable to show up on daily basis and be on time

Must have own tools

Must be able and willing to work both shifts: 7am-4pm and 7pm-4am

PPE: Company will provide all PPE except for steel toe boots or composite toe boots. Employee MUST have their own steel toe boots.

Work Schedule: will vary according to availability of buses and/or access to work sites

Tools: A list of necessary tools is below. If you do not have certain tools please let us know which ones prior to beginning work and we can lend them to you. You will be charged for any tools not turned in.

Must Have Tool List:

Drill w/2 batteries and charger (At least 20V)

Phillips and flathead drill bits

Flush cutters

Wire strippers (22 AWG – 10 AWG)

Crimper

#2 Philips and #2 Flathead screwdrivers (or multi screwdriver)

Muti tip precision screwdriver (both Phillips and flathead)

Headlamp

3/8” Standard Socket set up to 1/4” – 3/4” with ratchet (some sockets sets don’t have the ratchet)

Standard Wrench set up to (5/16”, 3/8”, 7/16”, 1/2”, 9/16”)

Utility knife

Multimeter

Tool bag

Apply
