Job Summary: The County Golf Course Mechanic plays a vital role in ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of all golf course equipment and machinery. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of equipment essential for the daily operations of the golf course. The Golf Course Mechanic contributes to the overall efficiency, safety, and quality of the golf course maintenance program.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Conduct routine maintenance tasks on golf course equipment, including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, and irrigation systems.

Diagnose mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs to ensure equipment operates effectively and safely.

Perform preventative maintenance procedures according to manufacturer guidelines to prolong equipment lifespan and minimize downtime.

Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, parts inventory, and service schedules.

Collaborate with the Golf Course Superintendent and other staff to prioritize equipment repairs and coordinate maintenance schedules.

Assist in the procurement of replacement parts and supplies, ensuring adequate inventory levels to support maintenance needs.

Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while operating equipment and performing maintenance tasks.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the equipment maintenance area, including tools, workspaces, and storage facilities.

Provide training and guidance to staff on equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and safety practices as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in diagnosing and repairing equipment malfunctions.

Knowledge of small engine mechanics, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.

Familiarity with maintenance techniques for gasoline and diesel-powered engines.

Understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to equipment operation and maintenance.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and convey maintenance needs.

Basic computer skills for maintaining maintenance records and inventory management.

Experience and Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum of two years of experience in equipment maintenance, preferably in a golf course or landscaping environment.

Technical training or certification in small engine repair, automotive technology, or related field preferred.

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.

Physical stamina to perform tasks requiring lifting, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.

Must be able to lift heavy objects, up to 50 pounds, occasionally.

Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed to support maintenance operations.
