HR Generalist
Second Use contributes to the circular economy by salvaging unique materials and home décor and selling them in two retail stores based in Seattle and Tacoma. Our staff members are a smart, diverse group of people passionate about reuse. The HR Generalist position focuses on staff support, advancement and accountability. This is a new position pulling together tasks that have previously been carried out (somewhat inconsistently) by various senior managers.
Qualifications
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to communicate accountability and support simultaneously
Demonstrated strengths in planning and organization
Experience working with a diverse team
Degree or certification in HR preferred
2-5+ years’ experience in HR (focused on interpersonal work) preferred
Familiarity with BambooHR or similar HR platform is a plus
Duties
Point of contact for staff members working through work-related interpersonal or management challenges
Provide coordination and facilitation in conflict resolution/mediation processes
Work with staff members on advancement pathways in consultation with management team
Participate in performance reviews
Provide coordination and facilitation in implementation of performance improvement plans or disciplinary measures
Participate with senior management in compensation and benefits decisions
Provide counsel and support on HR compliance
Provide counsel and support on culture development and diversity management
Other HR duties as needed
This position reports to the general manager and will have frequent interaction with the senior leadership team.
This position will complement and collaborate with another position which currently facilitates administrative aspects of HR, including hiring, onboarding, benefits and some recordkeeping.
Hours: 25 hrs/week, >80% in-person.
Pay: $32-37/hr DOE, eligible for benefits (health insurance, paid time off)
Note: This position could be based in either Seattle or Tacoma. Some travel between Seattle and Tacoma locations will be necessary.
