Our brand new residential adolescent program, Mission Prep, is seeking an experienced Primary Therapist who is eager to make a difference in clients’ lives and contribute to our growing mission.

The right person for this position will be comfortable managing a maximum caseload of about eight (8) clients between the ages of 12-17 years old with a variety of acute mental health diagnoses. Furthermore, the candidate should be willing to listen and work closely with clients to understand their needs and find the best approach to helping them achieve their goals.

To do this we utilize a blend of time-tested therapeutic approaches as well as innovative interventions. We create a sustainable experience that can be built upon long after the youth discharges from Mission Prep. Every element of the family’s care is conducted with attention and purpose from the sessions with our board-certified psychiatrist to the beautiful, home-like environment cultivated to bring a sense of belonging and connection for those in our care.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct clinical evaluations, biopsychosocial assessments, client diagnosis, and interpretive summaries.

Prepare person-centered treatment plans, case management, consultation, education, and referrals as needed.

Provide therapeutic interventions including crisis counseling to individuals, groups and families as needed.

Facilitate individual psychotherapy sessions and group therapy.

Provide services in accordance to organization’s policies and procedures and established Mental Health and Substance Abuse Standards as well as within the scope of practice of the therapist.

Evaluate the individual and family systems as well as assess clients functioning within work, family, and routines of daily living and identify areas needing continued support, resources, and treatment in order to assist clients.

Maintain Electronic Health Records to reflect the course of treatment and provide required documentation.

Prepare pre-certification/authorization information to insurance utilization review team and subsequent concurrent review (continued stay) clinical reports per medical necessity criteria.

Attend staff meetings, supervisory conferences, training, and other activities, which ensure effective and efficient functioning of clinical operations.

Adhere to organizational standards and policies and procedures, code of ethics, legal aspects of clinical practice, professional standards, duty to warn, abuse and neglect reporting policies and procedures and exercise professionalism at all times.

Qualifications and skills:

Preferred Credentials - Current and active LMFT, LCSW, LPC. (open to associates/ residents in counseling as well)

Active/current registration with Virginia Board of Counseling or Virginia Department of Health Professions.

EMDR experience preferred.

Experience working with children/adolescents in a clinical setting preferred.

Master's degree or higher in a relevant course of study.

Understanding of EMR (Electronic Medical Record).

Proficient in HIPAA with a strong adherence to the code of confidentiality.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Other Details:

This position provides in-person services at our facility in Waterford, VA.

Must be willing to work one weekend per month.

This is a full time, salaried position.

Salary- $75,000-$90,000.
