Description:

Who We Are:

Want to be part of a company that empowers you to innovate and implement your powerful ideas as you help shape the future of cybersecurity? Since 2012, CRITICALSTART has assisted in safeguarding numerous businesses from cyberattacks, preparing them for upcoming threats, and earning a plethora of awards along the way.

We thrive on innovation, devoid of bureaucracy. CRITICALSTART pioneered the first MOBILESOC app for on-the-go threat detection and response, devised a method to automatically resolve the majority of security alerts, and introduced services that reduce alert investigation time by 99.3% (our analysts truly appreciate us for that).

Everything we do revolves around our three core principles:

Do what’s best for our customers.

Do what’s best for our employees.

Don’t do things that suck.

That's basically it.

If you'd prefer to hear from our Critical Crew, watch to learn about their perspectives. Look at our Glassdoor reviews for another internal viewpoint (Pssst...want to grab our attention when you submit your resume? Include something about our Glassdoor reviews that resonated with you).

Who You Are:

This internship provides a unique opportunity to explore the realm of cyber threat intelligence (CTI). As an intern, you will assist our CTI team with research, data collection, and initial threat analysis. Through hands-on experience, you will develop skills in evaluating and reporting on cyber threats, contributing to our ongoing assessment of the dynamic threat landscape.

What You Will Be Doing?:

Utilize CTI tools to explore a range of threat intelligence data feeds, enabling the collection, processing, analysis, and creation of intelligence products that support intelligence-driven decision-making and operational responses.

Gain hands-on experience with industry-standard ticketing systems such as JIRA for tracking and managing cyber threat intelligence data.

Assist the CTI team in processing Requests for Information (RFIs) by gathering and organizing relevant threat intelligence data, while learning best practices for accurately and efficiently responding to RFIs.

Learn to identify and analyze connections between cyber threats, indicators of compromise (IOCs), and malicious actors.

Support the CTI team in conducting threat research to identify emerging cyber threats and vulnerabilities, contributing to proactive measures in addressing the evolving threat landscape.

Contribute to the development of clear and concise reports and presentations on cyber threats, enhancing your ability to effectively communicate complex technical information.

Monitor cyber adversaries' activities, gaining insights into their tactics, motivations, and evolving Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs).

What You Will Bring?:

Required Qualifications:

Familiarity with the MITRE ATT&CK framework: This is a valuable tool for understanding attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).

Basic Cybersecurity Knowledge: A foundational understanding of network security concepts, vulnerabilities, and exploits. This provides a strong base for understanding the technical aspects of cyber threats.

Interest in Learning New Technologies: The CTI field is constantly evolving, so a willingness and ability to learn new tools and platforms is crucial. This could include Threat Intelligence Platforms (TIPs), ticketing systems like JIRA, and threat data feeds.

Data Analysis Skills: The ability to collect, process, and analyze data from various sources is essential for identifying trends and patterns in cyber threats.

Strong Research Skills: CTI involves a lot of research into current and emerging threats. The ability to effectively search for information and critically evaluate its credibility is important.

Communication Skills (written and verbal): The ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences is essential. This includes writing reports, presentations, and collaborating with the CTI team.

Problem-Solving Skills: CTI analysts need to be able to analyze threat data, identify potential risks, and recommend solutions. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are key.

Attention to Detail: Accuracy is crucial in CTI. Interns should have a strong attention to detail to ensure they are correctly identifying and analyzing threat information.

Desired Qualifications:

Curiosity and Passion for Cybersecurity: A genuine interest in cybersecurity and a desire to learn more about the ever-changing threat landscape is a major plus.

Willingness to Learn: The CTI field is constantly evolving, so a willingness to learn new skills and stay updated on the latest threats is important.

Teamwork: The ability to collaborate effectively with the CTI team and other departments is essential.

Cybersecurity Certifications: Certifications like CompTIA Security+ or SANS introductory intelligence courses demonstrate a commitment to learning and can be a plus.
