Job Summary

At Teledyne FLIR - Waterloo, we are a global leader in high-performance, high-reliability, small unmanned aircraft (drones) for commercial, government, defense and military.

As part of the Operations team, our Quality Inspector have an impact in ensuring quality and performance before our customers receive their products. All roles at Teledyne FLIR require great teamwork, and a passion for getting things done the right way. We work smart and hard by solving problems and making sure the solution works for all stakeholders.

Primary Job Duties:

Approves incoming electrical (IPC Class 3), mechanical and system materials by confirming specifications through visual and measurement tests

Approves finished assemblies and RMA’s by confirming specifications and completion of the process flow. Returns product for rework and confirms rework when required.

Documents inspection results into the production database

Test electrical and mechanical components and systems

Assist with inspection criteria and instructions during New Product Introduction

Provide feedback to engineering and the production teams regarding inspection findings

Assist in product validation and flight testing when required

Provide hands-on training to other Production staff

Participate in Continuous Improvement Kaizen

Maintain safety and 5S of your work area

Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Preferred Skills/Experience:

5+ years of experience in inspection of;

PCBA (IPC Class 3)

Mechanical component inspection to a 2D print

Inspection of wiring assemblies

General electronics assembly with knowledge of Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing concepts (5S, 8 Wastes, Kaizen, Standardized Work)

Proficiency in both written and spoken English

Proficiency with documentation, data management systems and SAP

Proficiency with assembly instructions and technical documentation

Proficiency with inspection hand tools

Ability to clearly communicate and report inspection findings and results

Basic assembly troubleshooting skills are an asset
