Position Overview:

The position of Global Trade Compliance Manager UK will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the import and export activities of the Laser Quantum and other Novanta UK businesses are conducted in accordance with all applicable export control regulations. This role shall include managing the licensing and compliance function within the European Union and United Kingdom; generating and sustaining policies and procedures to ensure compliance with these respective regulations and deploying a compliance training and audit program.

Position Responsibilities:

Ensure adequate trade compliance program framework within the EU and UK

Actively manage the Export Compliance and Customs Compliance programs; including developing, maintaining, and implementing controls policies and related governance documents in alignment with Company policies, European Union, United Kingdom, and/or relevant German export and import laws and regulations.

Ability to read, understand, interpret, and implement European Union and United Kingdom export control regulations and Customs Regulations.

Monitor global trade landscape, identify and communicate changes

Understand and utilize Free Trade Agreements when applicable

Provide leadership & support to sales, legal, operations, business development, engineering, customer support, human resources, finance, and supply chain management to ensure full compliance.

Prepare all trade compliance, import/export control policies, procedures, and controls for ERP implementation

Ensure LQ division has trade compliance policies and procedures in place to ensure compliance.

Develop and deliver training with respect to the relevant trade compliance regulations.

Manage and maintain a regular audit and training program for LQ.

Provide advice with respect to day-to-day queries relating to Trade Compliance.

Interface with internal and external customers regarding Customs compliance matters.

Provide advice and guidance on the application and implementation of United Kingdom and E.U. Government export / import regulations.

Coordinate with various internal functions in obtaining the necessary United Kingdom and/or European Union export / import licenses, permits and certifications and ensure proper record keeping of such licenses and related technology transfers.

Analyze export / import activity reports and metrics pertaining to various elements of the export / import operations process, and reports out on trends, areas of concern and improvement opportunities.

Investigate non-compliance issues; including preparing, submitting and tracking any internal memos, disclosures, reports, etc. as deemed necessary with coordination and approval of senior management.

Monitor corrective actions resulting from audits, assessments, and investigations, while working to implement these corrective actions into improved policies and procedures.

Position Requirements:

Degree or relevant experience, or comparable working experience in Trade Compliance.

Experience implementing trade controls policies and procedures and a deep working knowledge of UK Strategic Export Control Lists, EU common and military control lists, EAR, and other trade control regimes.

Excellent Interpersonal, communication, and writing skills, including a strong ability to interact productively with all levels across the company.

Sound judgment, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent leadership skills.

Highly responsive and efficient; able to prioritize issues and execute on multiple tasks daily

Self-motivated, proactive approach with strong analytical skills and sound judgment.

Language: business fluent in English

This is a hybrid position with an expectation of 3 days/week in the office.
