Barings’ Private Credit Client Portfolio Management (“CPM”) teams is seeking an Associate Director to join the APAC team with a primary focus on the firms’ global private finance investment strategies. The successful candidate will work closely with senior CPM team members, the investment team and sales to support existing clients, and to help drive future growth in Barings’ private credit strategies in the region. The position will be located in Barings’ Singapore office and will report to the CPM lead - APAC.

In the role, the Client Portfolio Manager will gain valuable insight into 1) private credit investments – such as middle-market direct lending, 2) structuring of private investment funds and separately managed accounts, 3) interrelationships between businesses in a large, multi-strategy investment firm, and 4) institutional marketing of private funds.

Primary Responsibilities

• Be a subject matter expert internally and externally for the firm’s private credit capabilities, with a focus on global private finance.

• Develop and foster a network of successful working relationships with internal stakeholders, including within the investment team and sales, to help service and grow Barings’ private credit business globally

• Create and update marketing, servicing and educational materials on varied aspects of the investment strategies, including presentations, commentaries, market updates and investor reports on a monthly and quarterly basis

• Collaborate with various teams internally to respond to requests for related information from clients such as RFPs, RFIs and ad-hoc questions in a timely manner

• Regularly attend investment team meetings to deepen knowledge of the team’s investment capabilities and views on private credit markets

• Basic modelling and managing data for external and internal requests

• Coordinating meetings for projects and managing follow-ups

• Stay abreast of market developments and competitor intelligence

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree

• 4+ years of relevant work experience, ideally within investment management, and/or private credit

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word in order to produce high quality presentations

• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn in a team environment

• An analytical approach and problem solving mindset

• Strong time management, organizational, facilitation and collaboration skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in a second language (E.g. Mandarin, Japanese, Korean) would be an added advantage to support clients in the region

• Occasional travel may be required as part of this role
