Collegiate School seeks an Assistant Director of the Annual Fund. The primary responsibility of the Assistant Director is to support and implement the Annual Fund strategic plan to achieve overall goals, with special emphasis on volunteer management, direct mail/email efforts and participation levels (parent, alumni, faculty/staff). This position will focus on the growth of the Annual Fund program through successful outreach, marketing and communications efforts, and special initiatives, such as Giving Day/s. This position reports to the Chief Development Officer and works collaboratively and in close concert with the Annual Fund Director.

General Responsibilities include:

In collaboration with the Annual Fund Director, supports and implements the strategic direction of the Annual Fund program, developing giving strategy for each constituency to achieve stated goals. Annual Fund strategy will include an emphasis on segmenting audiences and creating a participation plan that encourages giving by current/former parents, alumni and other constituents. Creates strategies that support donor acquisition, donor retention and upgrades to achieve stated goals.

Develops and implements a robust volunteer program by recruiting, enlisting, and training volunteers to help achieve stated goals. Produces materials to support this work and provides regular outreach, check ins and call lists to various groups. Volunteer program includes current parents, alumni, grandparents and faculty/staff volunteers.

Support outreach efforts by the Board of Trustee’s Development Committee and Alumni Association’s Annual Fund Committee.

Works in partnership with Annual Fund Director and Communications Office to develop and implement direct mail and email campaigns and other pieces that support the Annual Fund. This may also include messages to alumni and parents, Collegiate’s website, social media and other forms of communication.

Responsible for conducting 50+ face-to-face meetings with members of the community to build and strengthen relationships, support volunteer program, and solicit gifts to the Annual Fund.

Understands and follows best fundraising practices, including consistent use of contract reports completed in a timely fashion.

In concert with Annual Fund Director, oversees Collegiate’s Day/s of Giving to further strengthen the culture of philanthropy that shows the power of collective giving and encourages broad participation from all members of the community.

Oversees for the Report on Philanthropy, to include donor impact pieces and creation of various donor lists (by size and constituency groups). Works collaboratively with development team, but serves as primary point of contact for pulling accurate donor lists.

Creates and run reports to show results to date and analyze giving patterns and opportunities.

Ensures all Annual Fund donors are thanked in a timely and appropriate fashion.

Creative and innovative thinker, able to build on the success of the current program and bring it to a new level.

Involvement in School-sponsored activities to expand the current culture of engagement by educating the community on the importance of volunteerism and philanthropy.

Team player with a willingness to support all programs in the Development Office (major giving, special events, alumni engagement, family engagement, research/data).

Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications and competencies:

Bachelor’s Degree

Minimum 3-5 years fundraising experience, including demonstrated success in annual giving

Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusiveness, including, but not limited to, collaboration, staffing and programming

Ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, alumni, parents and friends by creating a caring and inclusive community in which all members are respected and valued

Passion for independent school education

Understanding and belief in Collegiate’s mission and goals

Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills

Strong technology skills including Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Proven experience in Blackbaud Raiser’s or other Relationship Management System (RMS)

Knowledge of best practice trends related to donor relations
