The Clubhouse Sibling Liaison provides a physically and emotionally safe, inclusive family-centered care environment, facilitating play-based activities that provide supportive developmental, educational, recreational, adaptive, and socialization interventions for children and families. Liaisons work to assess individual needs and customize care for families focusing on coping, transitions, the impact of healthcare experiences, bereavement, and normalization. Liaisons possess critical thinking skills and often exercise autonomy in decision-making.

Responsibilities

Communicates and collaborates with the healthcare team to plan, provide, assess the impact of services, and link families with appropriate hospital and community resources.

Supports siblings and families during transitions in care, including end-of-life care.

Performs psychosocial assessments of siblings and uses assessment to customize care and create a working history of coping behaviors and intervention opportunities.

Identifies psychosocial, educational, adaptive, and recreational needs of individual children and designs interventions or activities related to the stages of child development.

Documents professional observations clearly and concisely.

Maintains data related to Clubhouse participation and services provided.

Assists in the development of new policies to ensure the safety of children in a changing healthcare setting.

Seeks opportunities to innovate and improve Clubhouse operations.

Participates in providing healthcare information to children; facilitates learning about the hospital setting and opportunities for children to participate in medical-themed play.

Recognizes, understands, and respects the diversity of families, staff, and volunteers in developing supportive programs. Creates and promotes an environment that is inclusive and supportive of all.

Sustains a safe, clean, and accessible learning and play environment. Upholds safety standards, including environmental, emotional, and physical safety of all children, volunteers, and staff.

Provides leadership, training, and supervision of volunteers? participation in Clubhouse activities to ensure appropriate interactions and safety standards are maintained.

Recognizes and expresses appreciation for volunteer involvement and engages in volunteer celebration events.

Collaborates in regularly scheduled staff meetings and participates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities, celebrations, and events related to the departmental mission.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree required in child development, education, psychology, related field, or equivalent experince.

Skills:

Excellent communication skills with both children and adults.

Planning and organizational skills including implementing interventions and programming for children of all ages.

Leadership and supervisory skills.? Basic computer skills are necessary.

Experience:

Experience working with children ages 3 to 12 in group settings.
