What You Will Be Doing
As a part of the mechanical group, you will be part of developing next generation clean energy solutions, accelerating our progress towards a sustainable energy future. You will play a leading role in the architecture, design, validation, and production of Generac’s clean energy products, with an emphasis on innovation, manufacturability, quality, reliability, and cost.
Technical Responsibilities
As a Sr. Mechanical Engineering Manager your technical responsibilities will include:
Leading next generation energy storage system design, validation, and launch
System level ownership of mechanical requirements, development, and validation
Collaborating with the design studio, hw engr, mfg engr, quality, operations
Delivering solutions optimized for form, function, quality, cost, and experience
Ensuring solutions are manufacturable, serviceable, and compliant
Solving complex electro-mechanical integration challenges
Reviewing mechanical designs to ensure proper rigor and sound principles
Developing schedules, validation plans, and achieving milestones on time
Leadership Responsibilities
Interpersonal and leadership skills are essential in addition to technical acumen. Leadership responsibilities include:
Developing engineering talent through goal setting, training, and purposeful assignments
Motivating engineers & providing growth opportunities and project / company impact
Fostering a collaborative team dynamic that values ownership and accountability

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Minimum 10 years of mechanical design experience
Minimum 3 years of team leadership and mentoring experience
Record of developing multiple quality products into production
Expertise in electro-mechanical product design and integration
Expertise selecting engineering materials for function, aesthetics, and compliance
Expertise in 3D CAD (Solidworks preferred, others accepted)
Expertise in 2D drafting, GD&T, and tolerance analysis
Expertise in contract manufacturing, 6 sigma, inspection & measurement
Excellent written and oral communication with peers and leadership
Expertise in 5 or more mass production processes such as: Stamping / sheet metal / welding, Textures & cosmetic part finishes, Tooling & fixturing, Injection molding, CNC machining, Extrusion, Turning, Casting.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Experience designing for automotive or NEMA/IP rated products
Experience in high power system design (up to 1kV)
Experience designing interconnects for battery packs or ESS
Experience with UL 9540A regulatory requirements and testing
Experience in rapid prototyping (3D printing, quick-turn mockups)
Experience with structural FEA and ability to perform simulations
